Last week I started my DAS training and had a good week passing Mod 1 with no faults looking forward to completing Mod 2.
Today I had a call from the school saying that they received a speeding notice concerning the bike I had been riding that week. I was a bit annoyed with myself, but gave them all my details and was prepared to take the responsibility.
About 10 minutes later I realised on the day in question I wasn’t on the bigger bike as we spent the first half day on the road on a 125. I only used that specific bike on the second day and for the rest of the training.
I called them back and they said they would look into it.
Obviously I will call them again tomorrow to check they have followed up with their enquiries.
I just wondered if there would be a photo that could identify the person riding or would it not be that clear. Not even sure if there is a photo. Haven’t had much experience in this area.
I don’t want to end up responsible for something I haven’t done.
Sounds like the school's problem to sort out. If you weren't riding it it at the time stated, you've nothing to worry about. If they think you were, they need to produce some evidence to support it. Good luck with your mod 2.
Yes, it’s a bit of an odd situation. Hopefully when I call them they will have sorted it out.
Will be so relieved to complete mod 2 as well, haven’t been able to stop smiling since I passed mod 1.
Good luck with the MOD2.
I'd have presumed at worst you'll get your own letter, at which point you'll be able to say it wasn't you. There should be a photo, and it should at least be clear enough to show the helmet color, high vis vest etc. Where it might get complicated is if the vest just says student and the helmet is a generic one all the students use! Obviously it'll be easier if it was one of the instructors out on a run to get doughnuts.
Surely the school will have to keep a log of who’s riding which bike and when in case situations like this arise?
Thanks, all sorted now. It was someone else going to their test. I think the photo, if available, would have proved it as well as my helmet has a peak and I seem to be the only one with that.
I feel OK for Mod 2, just go to ensure I get in the right lane at that awful Queen’s roundabout in Farnborough.
Sounds like the school jumped the gun. I'm sure they will sort it.
Good luck with the MOD2! Great feeling when you can take off the ear piece and ride back without the instructor nattering in your ear.

First thing my instructor did was immediately blat off up the dual carriageway at speeds that weren't the speed limit!
I really need to get myself a bike.
They're f##king great. Wish I'd got my full licence much sooner. Big regret that I stopped riding in my early twenties (on 125's before the DAS changes) and went to cars.
Yes, I would also have expected that they kept a log for just that reason. Other than that I have really enjoyed the training. Bikes are definitely great fun especially when you get into the flow. Can’t wait to get my own bike.
