leaving about 12.30
Normally would be M40 then one of
M4, M42, M6
A43, M1, A66
(others? I'm assuming that crossing Leeds/Bradford to find an A road route would be a bad thing to try)
Anyone got recent info on roadworks'n'shit or just general top tips ?
Straight north to Oxford.
M40, M42 round the eastern side of B'ham, M6 Toll, M6.
It'll be shit but it's the least shit option. M6 has loads of 50mph sections between B'ham and about Thelwall. After that it's OK.
A34, M40, M42, M6 Toll, M6. job done.
Maybe leave half an hour earlier to clear Cheshire, Skem, Preston etc before it starts to get busier around 4 ish.
What crazy-legs said
M6 will be fine after Preston whatever time you get there FWIW
Install Waze follows its advice but where is busy as what you really need to do is pick the route that has not had the accident
Ah, thanks
(can't leave earlier, working a.m.)
sorry, not sure why I typed M4 - definitely not going on that. meant M40 at least until the Brackley turn-off (A43)
Yeah, we're planning to check for crashes before we decide on M6 or M1
M6 toll - really worth it ?
for speed/time yes i think you save about 7-10 minutes using it cost wise much less so
A34, M40, M42(N), A5, A38 to M1 via Derby, A1, A66.
Getting round Derby might slow you down a bit, but it's better than crawling in 2nd gear up the M6 from B'ham to Preston.
