Junior has failed to sort any parking out for his trip to the I o W festival. He has ferry booked for 6 this evening and no parking options.
Any ideas? I'm happy for him to park out and train in if that would be easier. He needs it from this afternoon until Monday afternoon. And it's a mini if that makes any difference.
Any ideas?
Lots of cruise passengers just seem to be parking on local roads and getting an Uber in. As for parking and train there is a longer stay at Southampton airport parkway/airport. Maybe park there and do the short hop to Southampton central. Station to ferry is 20-30 mins walk.
If you drop me a line he can park outside mine, there is usually a couple of spots free. about 15mins taxi to the ferry (depending on traffic)
my neighbour will have a moan though as it’s a pet hate so hopefully he won’t jump out on him, last car was parked for 2 weeks whilst they must have been on a cruise so he’s a bit militant

Worth bearing in mind that the multi storey at the station is about £15/day (certainly on a weekday). The airport more than double that. Day trip to jersey a few weeks back and parking was about £40 at the airport (short stay).
I don't know if there are still residential streets off the Avenue that are not tightly controlled?
There may well be closer roads, but off the top of my head, the closest unrestricted parking I can think of might be around Radway/Kineton/Kellett (a fairly affluent part of the city). @DT78 might be able to confirm this, it's been a while since I've been around there.
Left of the common there are plenty (edit yeah in the area if those listed above) and over towards st James road. There are some past that but generally they are tighter the other side of st james road. Don't go past Shirley high street.

Getting similar whining in our road WhatsApp group. Despite the fact every house has driveway parking for 2+ cars.

Or there's the triangle car park a short walk from the redjet/red funnel

Thanks far all the suggestions and the kind offer from @DT78
He's (I've) managed to find a space at The Elizabeth House Hotel on the Avenue for £25 using YourParkingSpace.
That's not too bad. Probably far enough out to avoid the worst traffic spots and easy to get too from m3. Red funnel walkable from there, 30-40 mins loaded up.
Ok no worries. And yes thats my area. Whilst it is true parking on the road is free, if people park outside your place for 2 weeks it is mighty annoying. Especially in my case as I have trucks turning up to deliveries / drop off skips etc... fairly regularly for building works. If a neighbour parks its generally easy to find them and ask them to move so the truck can offload. If its people saving a few bob on their expensive cruise it is annoying if it happens alot.
Neighbours are taking photos of the cars, to see if its repeat offenders, such as staff.
Often pretty nice cars left too, so you'd expect them to be able to afford safe parking....
