Thinking about going over the bridge this weekend. Google and general web searches show nothing so looking for insights. Museums, restaurants, theatres, parks and anything else well under the radar will be appreciated.

south moreton is a very small village near Didcot. Nothing there.

The Ridgeway is only a short drive away (or cycle) for a decent off road cycle though

Oxford is easy to get to from Didcot of course, and some of the museums are amazing. Pitt-Rivers/Natural History arr superb, and the Ashmolean is world class.

Lovely pubs and cafes/restaurants near by. What do you like? Goring and Streatley have lovely cafes (Pierreponts), decent restaurants (Leatherne Bottel) etc

Short drive to Coventry for the motor museum. I think Triumph motorcycles has a small museum at their factory. Not sure where exactly, but a colleague and I meant to visit when we were at Moreton-in-Marsh, Beast of the East had other ideas🤨.

Really not surprised google shows nothing for South Moreton - it's a very small village which no longer has a shop or a pub. It doesn't need a park as it's in the countryside 😉

Other than train spotting on the Great Western mainline, there is nothing to do

Why would you pick there of all places!?

Short drive to Coventry

We thought it was short, given we had driven from Aberdeen for a 2 week course and were stuck down there.

Why would you pick there of all places!?

Primarily because its half a mile away from my place in North Moreton.
I actually posted it as a pisstake as I was entertained (and informed) by the huge number of "What to do in Xxxxxx" threads.
Then of course the first two posters ruined it by being helpful and genuine.

South Moreton currently doesn't have a pub but thanks to the locals buy out campaign it will be opening early next year after a complete refit. The previous owners tried to sell it as an Indian restaurant and started ripping the fittings out before they found they couldn't do that. Then they attempted to sell it for redevelopement as flats/houses but the locals got a community asset status slapped on it that gave them time to get the funding sorted. The campaign featured on TV a couple of weeks ago - always useful to have people like Ulrikakaka on side to drag in the media.

Anyway thanks for the advice, the Pendon is the only thing on the list I haven't tried, although l literally cycle past the gate most days when I ride into Didcot after visiting the Plough.

I was going to recommend a walk down to The Sweet Olive in Aston Tirrold, but apparently it's closed and has now opened as something called The Fat Frog. You could go there for lunch and post us all a review whenever it's worth a mid ride pint and some sustenance?

Not at their prices. Actually that is a lot cheaper than The Sweet Olive.
