I'm away with work shortly and stopping at the Goodwood hotel.

Are there any decent rides/routes in this area - I'm wondering whether it's worth taking the bike down.

Cheers

Nice road riding straight from the hotel. Nice hotel too.

MTB a little harder to find, but you're not far from the trails at Whiteways/Houghton Forest or the South Downs Way.

Thanks. Any suggested routes please?

I did consider taking the road bike, but I've fallen out of love with the road stuff this year.

Head over to Stoughton/Kingley Vale. The DH tracks at Stoughton are great fun, even the black graded one is absolutely fine (&fun) on a trail bike, apart from the one massive drop at the bottom.
That said, the road riding round there is superb. You can put a lovely route together out towards Midhurst then West over to Buriton, over the A3 to West Meon then back over Old Winchester Hill & Butser Hill through Compton, Stoughton and back. Lots of quiet lanes, rolling hills with great views and a good few pins to stop at if you want too!
