I was pondering this when I caught a train from a rural station this morning. There were quite a few charge points and only two EVs (both plugged in). So no problem for now, but what happens when EVs become more popular?
I left my ICE car (in a normal bay of course) for three days, but what if I had an EV? It would be a massive dick move to leave it on a charger for that long, but I bet most of the cars left there are left plugged in for a whole working day.
You'll probably find you can only leave a car on charge for a short time, not all day - I guess there will be fines coming in. The spaces at work specifically say to only park there whilst charging.
Not really an option for a train car park though. If you are commuting by train, which I guess is what they are trying to encourage with the free parking and EV charging points, then you are going to be leaving your car there all day. Bit of a special case though I guess.
A station near me offers free EV charging, but you do have to pay for car parking. I imagine the early bird gets the EV spot for the whole day..
However.. it is only £2.50 all day on a Sunday.. that means i i could charge a LR EV there `9from a v low starting point) you could pretty much get 1p/mile!!!
DrP
Incidentally, can anyone explain to me why the electric jag is called the i-pace whilst they also have a (non electric) model called the e-pace? It annoys me every time I see one!
