Decided I need a ride on lawnmower. Looking at the tractor kind rather than the zero turn models.

Anyone know anything about them? Looking at either John Deere or Husqavarna.

Have tin hat and body armour donned for the inevitable flaming but if there is anyone out there with any knowledge I would appreciate any feedback on the relative merits.

Be wary of some tractor-like models - they share a common clutch for the PTO that drives the blades, which means that when you put your foot on the clutch (a) the blades stop, which is irritating and (b) the momentum of the blades continues to drive the wheels, which is both irritating AND dangerous.

Get one with a belt driven blade deck.

You need one with 650B wheels to make that lawn really come alive.

Not here it ain't. Grass is growing like mad and driving me into a similar state. Will be two days on the end of the mower unless I get something bigger.
