Via work, I need to get a phone that is:
- brilliant camera
- 256gb storage - definitely (or smaller but then + a SD card slot). And cloud storage not relevant here
- up to £500 but can get refurb (I can add a couple £s)
- has to be Android
- ideally relatively small, or at least not huge
- ideally waterproof/water resistant
Historically have liked/used Motorolas, but the Edge 30 Ultra looks physically pretty huge. Pixel 6 Pro refurb just about?
But really not much idea as haven't bought a phone for a good while. Any recos?
New Pixel 6 for £299 from Carphonewarehouse https://singletrackmag.com/forum/topic/psa-google-pixel-6-299-pre-order/
Do you really need a Pro?
Would also recommend the Pixel 6, have one myself (since they first came out) and can't fault it. Camera is great, nice and sharp and the long exposure and night modes are a nice touch and very handy. No 'pro' mode though but depends how into changing all the settings you are.
I paid £600 for mine when they came out (Oct 21) so £300 is a bargain as it was a good price at £600, Pixel 7 is out now but side by side, there's very little difference.
Just to add to the carphone warehouse link, I think you can trade in your old phone as well to make the pixel 6 even cheaper
Oppo Find X5 Pro on Amazon "like new" for about 580. (20% off warehouse price until Dec 31st)
Proper flagship phone.
The like new ones we had were literally unused. However is 6.7" so maybe too big.
The camera is better than the s22ultra I just returned which over processes the images for me.
Not sure there are any "relatively small" phones of that sort, are there?
And it's weird how there are so few 256gb options in general still.
I wanted one, but settled for a 128gb Pixel 6. FWIW there does seem much more available memory than my previous non-Google phones. Less bloatware perhaps?
I've got a Pixel 6 Pro, it's utter shit.
I've literally never had a phone with such bad reception or connection, whether it's mobile, wi-fi, Bluetooth or location. It's basically a liability.
Don't get one.
Can I ask why you need so much memory?
As long as I keep images backed up to cloud and clear off my phone, I have huge amounts of space for apps and music. Like I'm using 50% of my 128gb.
Marques will tell you
Pixel also a lot of love for Asus Zenphone 9.
Just in case it's of interest / help, I ended up with a Sony Xperia 5 3, and v impressed / pleased with it. Ideally would be a little shorter, but v slim, light, SD card, quick, camera looks great, and well under budget for a 14-day return phone, which seems brand new. Fingers crossed
