We've successfully decamped notso-babybgoode to the attic however unfortunately there is no heating up there. We've looked at getting a radiator plumbed in but for various reasons this is more complicated than it would first appear so we are looking for a decent wall mounted, quasi-permanent solution.
Can anyone recommend a really good, efficient wall mounted electric heater. Room is quite large and an Edwardian attic (always been one, not a conversion) so insulation is not brilliant so needs to have some oomph. Budget up to £400
electric heating is all pretty much the same efficiency
We have a Morrisons free standing oil filled radiator I paid about £60? for and a cheap fan heater.
The radiator is on a timer and has its own thermostat the fan heater is useful if you want to raise the temperature quickly whilst the rad warms up.
MiniXtC has just changed rooms but in his previous eaves room the radiator just got put away over summer... it was however a small and well insultated room but one rad had no problem heating it.

Yep.... electric heating is 100% efficient (i.e. 100% of the electricity turns into heat) - although a fan would reduce that as you're pushing the heat around.
The two options I have experience of are wall mounted convector heaters and oil filled rads.
A convector heater would be faster to heat up but also to cool down. An oil filled rad would be more portable if that helped. Both could have timers and thermostats.
But, if the insulation is not good, could you put some of the budget to fitting some more insulation - either in the roofspace or kingspan fitted underneath the existing plasterboard and then overboarded?
It would cost a little more but in the long run it's the best way to spend money as it would make the room much more comfortable in both the summer and winter.

I'm not going to argue though others might but some of it turns into magnetism... hence why I said "pretty much" to cover myself.

Oh, right...... fair enough!!
