I have got what looks like dust on the sensor of my six month old Sony A5100, but cannot seem to shift it with the air blower / puffer method. I'm not actually convinced that it is dust, as I change lenses very rarely and can neither see nor shift anything.
I cannot find anything on the Sony UK page about where to warranty work is done, beginning to think my only option is to send it back to Amazon - any better ideas?
Send it back to amazon. Zero hassle.
But... I have to wet clean pretty regularly. I don't see it any differently to needing to clean a pair of glasses.
Sensors get dirty.
If you've open it up at all I would suspect it's dust that's become stuck due to static. It's no great shakes to clean either with a suitable brush ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LQQQZQ/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000LQQQZQ&linkCode=as2&tag=sc0b5d-20&linkId=UIYPVYTQEQFZROYK) or a wet clean with swabs ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000F6VRJC/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B000F6VRJC&linkCode=as2&tag=sc0b5d-20&linkId=3ZMXVSC7D4SIVIMR). IMHO it a wouldn't constitute a warranty return unless you have never opened it.
Thanks both.
Sony instructions are very clear that only puffs of air should be used on the sensor, no brushes or wet cloths so I had not really considered using this way to clean it in case I caused more damage than I fixed
Yeah I was the same and took mine to a shop to have the sensor cleaned for £50!!! The guy said that Sony say that cause of warranty etc and that the sensor has a filter on it anyway. The swabs are easier than the brush, although this is just to lightly go over it anyway. You also charge the air on it with the blower bulb first to pick up the dust.
