Why is it never easy!!!
Swapped to virgin from BT yesterday for monthly cost saving, hub 3 installed, basic but thought it'd do the job, did not realize there were issues between this and Sonos, since searching forums there also appears to be issues between Sonos and Pixels re setting up....
Have 3 Sonos units so they're going nowhere
All router changes made as advised for sonos set up, still not working
Anyone else had this? Easiest fix swapping hub into modem mode with new router installed or trying a non-pixel phone (which I'm really going to struggle to get hold of even for a short time)
Is it even fixable??
I've not experienced this exact set up, but.. have you tried setting your Sonos system to wireless mode as suggested here?
You don’t really say what the issue you are having is? I don’t have the same hub but I do have eight Sonos speakers, if I have a power cut it can take several days for them to all come back on line! It’s a right PITA.
What's the exact issue you're having with Sonos?
I found that my bridge/boost didn't like being plugged into an intelligent switch, so I just plugged it into a cheap dumb one and that solved my problem
Pixel 6 here with no issues but I'm not using a Virgin hub.

That's weird.... Same number of speakers (over two houses) and never experienced that.
I do think that these issues are mostly hub/router related though.
Pixel 7 user here.
No issues with using Sonos.
Sorry, went it to ranty mode.
Just trying to set Sonos up on a new wifi system, I've done a factory reset on all speakers, initially the pixel looks to see if the app is the latest version and it times this is blocked and goes no further
I can get around that by reinstalling the app, but then the phone connects to the wifi the Sonos has set up on the speaker but then falls over and won't go any further.
All hub settings are as Sonos guidelines surgest e.g 2.4/5 split and called different names with all other settings changed as required
How old is your Pixel? Sonos updated their app some time ago and it won't install on some older devices. I've got two Amazon tablet things that i can no longer use as they cannot update their own operating system any more to allow the new app to install.
They've got a Pixel 6 so should be running the latest Android and app compatibility.
15 Sonos speakers (if you include surrounds, subs and IKEA versions) and no issues with Pixel 6 or Pixel 7 Pro here.
Sorry that's not helpful but may give hope it'll all work together.
Thanks it's a 6a bought last Aug
I think the pixel issue is related to initial set up than general use, my 6a was fine on my previously set up - set up was done with a Pixel 3a before
Interesting. I've set my WiFi up twice and must have used a Pixel as I've had a 2 and 5.
Watching with interest as I'm about to reset my WiFi so need to set up again and only got Pixels in the house.
If I can get it charged with it's flakey cable I'll try set up using my old 3a and see if it makes any difference later
I took an older Sonos Amp to our other place earlier this year and had to connect it to the new wifi - it seemed hard going until I tried plugging it in with an ethernet cable and then it all seemed very quick and easy.
Update: definitely a weird problem with Pixel 6a's and setting up new Sonos systems
First try was grabbing a S/H TP link router and running the virgin hub in modem mode to see if it was the Sonos / Virgin hub causing issues, it wasn't.
Borrowed an Apple phone from work and the Sonos install took around 5 minutes all in, just couldn't do it on my Pixel
Not sure if the Pixel keeps defaulting to the main wifi and won't connect with the temp Sonos wifi set up, not sure if it effects standard 6s or just 6a's but thought I'd give an update for anyone else likely to fade issues in the next few months
Can you not plug in via ethernet for initial set up? Been a while since I had Sonos speakers but that used to work.
Probably a bit late now but in future don't change your devices to the new WiFi, change the WiFi to your devices. Even the crappiest supplier provided router let's you set this. Either stick with the old network ID and password (set the new router up with that ID) or come up with an easier to remember one (we've a short but not house identifiable SSID and password in the memorable form 'word-word-word'.
On the pixel there should be a pop up when you connect to a WiFi network that warns there is no internet and allows you to accept that. If that isn’t happening I could see the phone returning to another network. This sounds familiar from trying to setup various devices that use WiFi where some are a pain.
On the argument it’s a newish phone it should just work the DJI apps don’t run on pixel 7, internet chatroom theory is there is some incompatibility with the tensor processor.
In the scenario Riddoch describes there is a setting in Android that will keep it connected to the WiFi that has no internet instead of the normal behaviour of switching to another known network. Iirc on the network that it keeps swapping back to turn off 'connect automatically ' under the network settings temporarily. That should stop the jumping from the sonus setup WiFi. Once it is setup you can swap the changed setting back.
Processor incompatibly seems unlikely as there are a fair few layers of abstraction between hardware and the app (though use of that processor could turn another feature on that causes a clash).
Just a thought...
Google have set up a VPN for free now as part of a recent Android update.
See if you can turn it off and then try the set up without it.
