I have separates in the living room, but want something for the kitchen,
I'm lucky to have quite a bit kitchen area which I usually sit around in more than the the living room.

I'm running an ancient set of PC speakers and sub, I think it was a Tesco's £20 job, with an ipod touch for Spotify and R6.

I keep looking at Sonos 5's...mostly because the sound they produce seems to always get positive reviews, but £350 is a stretch for a system that would probably only end up being a single speaker.

I've never been keen on ipod docks, I'd rather just use an aux lead to future proof it a bit.

Soooo, any tips for a good speaker system I can pair with an Ipod?
The ipods 3 years old now so the fact the OS will probably soon be out of dates playing on my mind a bit sending me back to the Sonos set up...

Sonos 5 plays most of my music and radio in the dining room, kitchen and out into the garden. It just works. The very nice hi fi is in another room and seldom used for music (cinema and teen gaming are its primary roles now). I'm very pleased with the sound, single speaker notwithstanding.

Also have a Play 1 in a sitting room and it is a bit lacklustre at low volumes. A play 3 is probably a better compromise for a larger space. But Sonos, as a system, is just excellent.

Had my Sonos for a year and cannot recommend it highly enough - it's ace. Have a playbar under a wall mounted telly in the kitchen-family room and a Play 1 in the living room. Not a single regret.

Tbh, I never really investigated other systems. As soon as I'd tried it in a mate's house, I was sold on it. Since getting it (a 1 in the bedroom and a 3 in the dining/breakfast room) and a spotify premium subscription, and giving up buying cds, I've not regretted it for a minute. I couldn't really give a shite about sound quality, but it seems fine to me and I've listened to a lot more music since I did.

Thanks all, I agree its a great system, just not sure I'd get the value out of it with it probably staying as a single unit and I could probably make the effort to walk over to it and operate it while plugged into the ipod.

Just wondered what else I'd get for my money without the need for wifi/Bluetooth options.

I'll have another look at the Jongo's maybe.

I was thinking what to do recentley as I've got a nice living room setup but wanted DAB & NAS access in the kitchen (& elsewhere eventually).

Looked at various options but plumped for a Sonos 1 (bought from amazon.es for £125 ish) & so far -

>< great having music in the kitchen finally
>< Sonos Play 1 sounds v good for such a small box
>< Wasn't as simple to setup as read it should be - didn't recognise wifi, froze on setup, had to plug it into router etc but since then flawless
>< Controllable from anyone of our 3 (android) phones
>< Sonos android app not the slickest interface - I was expecting something much nicer but it works & Mrs Bit is happy using it
>< can play music from variety of sources inc your phone, but no 3.5mm (or any physical) input

All in all happy for c£130 spend (£5 for Sonos lead from Sonos) & definitely glad I didn't go for a 3 given sounds vs cost of the 1

If you do decide to go for a Sonos (or Jongo or anything else you ever buy on Amazon?!), check http://www.curiua.com for comparing amazon prices across Europe. My Play 1 from Spain arrived in 4 days & was not subject to any other costs/taxes (other than UK lead from Sonos if you need)
