We have a One in our kitchen (playing Radio 2 to keep the dog company downstairs) and, as I am still working from home for the foreseeable future, I have now got one in my 'office'. Both are voice controlled but if I tell it to turn off when I am in the office it will say 'thank you for listening to Planet Rock (which I am playing in the office) however it carries on playing. If I tell it a second time it will say 'Thank you for listening to Planet Rock' again and this time it WILL switch off. However when I go downstairs, Radio 2 has stopped so I have to activate it again. I have tried saying 'Stop playing in the Office (as it is labelled on the app as 'Office') but the same thing happens.

Any ideas? It isn't a massive issue but it annoys me that it doesn't work as it should.

Honestly, use the app

voice activation is rubbish

But the problem is that I usually want to turn down the music when my phone rings so I can't access the app easily (as it is on the phone).

I've found similar with a One, I have to ask Alexa twice to play anything before it starts even though she acknowledges the first request, very frustrating.

I could, but that isn't the point of the question! I could have just kept the knackered old radio I had been using if I wanted to get up to push a button every time I needed to mute the audio 🙂

That is why for normal radio use I just listen to Alexa/Echo. I only use Sonos for proper listening in the evening. I find anything Sonos related to be too flakey and frustrating for daily use.
