So, I was with a group of young people today and they started whistling the Peter Bjorn and John song ‘Young Folks’. To which I said to them, that I am rather partial to a good song with whistling in it. However, the only song that came to mind was Captain Beefheart’s, ‘Harry Irene’.

What have I forgotten?

Lippy kids has a little bit of whistling in it.

But if you want to go hardcore forget the whistling, yodelling is where it's at!

Last Film by Kissing The Pink

Is a synthesiser, not actual whistling. Great song though.

Not as much as the reason for it - there were supposed to be more vocals but a plane crash prevented their recording..

See, I really like it - I don’t know how it didn’t come immediately to mind. I even like Magic Moments.

Which version of Mr Bojangles? - I really like Dylan’s version, but cannot recollect any whistling.
I think I might make a playlist of the above suggestions and spend a couple of days listening only to songs with whistling 🙂

If you're anything like me this one will get in your head and you'll end up whistling it all day.

When I was at university (early 80’s) I got a Christmas job at the post office. I spent one of the shifts cancelling stamps with a hand stamp, it was hellish. They make it sound fun 🙂

Damn you! Missed this thread but saw it referenced in the sax thread and immediately thought of this track. I'll post the link though...

Top tune!

Also, was going to say the Bangles, Walk like an Egyptian, but now I'm thinking it may be done with a synth...

You see, I like it and I usually can’t abide whistling. Otis is my favourite singer of all time though...

Billy Joel - The Stranger
One of my favourite songs of all time, and as with most of Billy Joel's music it's made all the better for being played live
