I have a number of songs that reliably produce the frisson shiver or similar . I heard one this morning that prompted me to start this thread. I'm sure it is subjective though although there are some pieces out there that seem to affect many people and afterwards they describe it as beautiful.
The song this morning was the one below
Another couple are the "power of love" chorus by FGTH and "Who wants to live forever" by Freddie Mercury .
There are many others I could list .
What does this for you ?

Con Te Partiro

One of the early crescendos in Mike Oldfield's Hergest Ridge always gives me a little shiver for some reason. Depending on the exact version of the album it moves around a bit but it's about 4 minutes in on this version:

I've seen that a number of times, and it is amazing.

And, as we're on Aretha

This song didn't, but then I watched the tribute gig and felt every word of this version.

Now I have a small shiver every time I listen to it.

Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence - Ryuichi Sakamoto. A piece of music that can bring me to tears.

Edit - no idea how you clever folks put videos into this

Quite a lot of music really, though there is one standout piece. The finale of Act 1 of Benjamin Britten's opera Peter Grimes. Start at 45:00. Apologies for the Spanish subtitles but it's the only video I could find featuring the brilliant Philip Langridge as Grimes.

For the full detail of how we get to this point and what it leads to you'll have to watch the whole thing, which I would highly recommend even to those who don't think they like or get classical music and especially opera.

Well OK to get an idea of what it's leading up to go to 2:02:00 - yes, a lynch mob.

There's heaps for me, I think. Mostly they take me to a place in the past, an emotion often with a location.

Most recently it's Sam Fender's 17 going under, which came up on YT just after I watched my step-sister's funeral from the other side of the world today. Kinda suits the mood. Whenever I hear it, it takes me back to sad times in my teenage years.

But... there's more positive ones too. I remember finishing the sixth form and this was the sound of the start of summer.

So many dance tracks to choose from, but this has to be the ultimate for goosebumps...

And this just reactivates certain pathways in my brain...

One track that immediately comes to mind is Portishead, Roads live in NYC. Beth Gibbons vocals are just superb.

As a child of the 80's, this fits the bill for me. Not in the same class as the rest of the offerings seen here, but this gives me the tingles every.single.time.

Just had this pop up on my playlist and stuck a smile on me face. Back in the 80s the people in the coke ad just looked so exciting compared to the UK, made a lasting impression on me....
