I have a number of songs that reliably produce the frisson shiver or similar . I heard one this morning that prompted me to start this thread. I'm sure it is subjective though although there are some pieces out there that seem to affect many people and afterwards they describe it as beautiful.
The song this morning was the one below
Another couple are the "power of love" chorus by FGTH and "Who wants to live forever" by Freddie Mercury .
There are many others I could list .
What does this for you ?
Con Te Partiro
and, I know, sorry, but I love this song-
Pretty much anything by Nina Simone.
Loads. Some tracks make me laugh out loud with their brilliance
First that came to mind
and this. I listen to it as little as possible, so that when I do hear it...
One of the early crescendos in Mike Oldfield's Hergest Ridge always gives me a little shiver for some reason. Depending on the exact version of the album it moves around a bit but it's about 4 minutes in on this version:
Every. Single. Time.
Baba O'Reilly by The Who.
This, and especially the intro, just makes me, I dunno, wistful
Goosebumps and welling up with Aretha doing this Natural Woman
I've seen that a number of times, and it is amazing.
And, as we're on Aretha
Elgar's Nimrod. Every time.
This song didn't, but then I watched the tribute gig and felt every word of this version.
Now I have a small shiver every time I listen to it.
Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence - Ryuichi Sakamoto. A piece of music that can bring me to tears.
Edit - no idea how you clever folks put videos into this
loving this thread. Some duds obvs but some stuff I'd never heard and love! Here's my offering
Quite a lot of music really, though there is one standout piece. The finale of Act 1 of Benjamin Britten's opera Peter Grimes. Start at 45:00. Apologies for the Spanish subtitles but it's the only video I could find featuring the brilliant Philip Langridge as Grimes.
For the full detail of how we get to this point and what it leads to you'll have to watch the whole thing, which I would highly recommend even to those who don't think they like or get classical music and especially opera.
Well OK to get an idea of what it's leading up to go to 2:02:00 - yes, a lynch mob.
There's heaps for me, I think. Mostly they take me to a place in the past, an emotion often with a location.
Most recently it's Sam Fender's 17 going under, which came up on YT just after I watched my step-sister's funeral from the other side of the world today. Kinda suits the mood. Whenever I hear it, it takes me back to sad times in my teenage years.
But... there's more positive ones too. I remember finishing the sixth form and this was the sound of the start of summer.
This is one of many - for the version that was the theme to the RAC Rally lookup “Jewel”
Best listened to on Tidal or whatever at a reasonable volume. Spine tingling
Currently this...
and his...
and this...

but thats to day. tomorrow it might be different!
So many dance tracks to choose from, but this has to be the ultimate for goosebumps...
And this just reactivates certain pathways in my brain...
Probably because of the surrounding story, but this one always has me.

from 1955 referring to apartheid relocation
Who knows where the time goes? - Sandy Denny/Fairport. Also the Judy Collins version. talking of Judy collins, 'My Father' gives me a liitle shiver down the old spine.
Something different again... there's a few layers to this one:
For one, seeing it live for the first time, one of the gigs of my life... really sticks with me
Not suitable for the average workplace
One track that immediately comes to mind is Portishead, Roads live in NYC. Beth Gibbons vocals are just superb.
Opening movement of Dvorak's Cello Concerto
Bright Eyes - must be Watership Down childhood trauma related.
Twin Peaks theme

Local Hero - Wild Theme
As a child of the 80's, this fits the bill for me. Not in the same class as the rest of the offerings seen here, but this gives me the tingles every.single.time.
Great thread. These two are really emotive for me,take me off to my hitchhiking days in the late 70s, fruit picking in france/spain/portugal, some of the best times of my life,
Just had this pop up on my playlist and stuck a smile on me face. Back in the 80s the people in the coke ad just looked so exciting compared to the UK, made a lasting impression on me....
Amiens Polka - the Dreadnoughts
Carbona not glue- Ramones
No Good - Prodigy
Flower of Scotland sung by the crowd at some sporting event , absolutely amazing.
Roger Waters: Perfect Sense Part 2.
Volume up, it builds, then the stadium crowd does the trick.
