Clearly one of the most successful covers bands ever, from Turn The Page to AmI Evil to Stone Cold Crazy Metallica have done a huge number of really good covers - but what would you like to hear from them?
(I appreciate for some of the discotheque rave kids it might be nothing. Ever.)
I’m thinking maybe The Cure possibly A Forest or even Killing An Arab (though possibly wait for global tensions to ease on that one even though it’s not about what some folk will think).
It wouldn’t sound like The Cure once they’d done it but it could sound really interesting.
I quite like that idea.
Live obviously
Devil Woman - cliff richard.
Royals - lorde.
I would say crazy horses aswell but no one can top the original.
But surely Oasis are the most successful covers band of all time?
Something by Boney M, possibly ‘Brown girl in the ring’ or maybe ‘Daddy cool’
I've always wanted to hear a metal band do a cover of ABBA's Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (in fact, weirdly, I was rethinking it again just this morning).
I just think a really slashing guitar sound under the vocals would be fantastic. My mate is in a rock and metal covers band and I keep badgering him to do it.
My first thought was Dancing Queen, but Gimme Gimme Gimme would certainly be fun too.
Pretty much anything from 70s/80s disco, really
Well they haven't done anything by Jonny Cash that I can recall (I'm probably wrong on that) so how about:
I hung my head
Or
When the man comes around
Killing Moon by Echo and the Bunnymen
While we are on covers and turning that around the Johnny Cash cover of Nine Inch Nails' Hurt is pretty good.

This is my favorite version of Dancing Queen.
Comfortably Numb. Although Ice-T has beat them to it.

Avantasia - Lay All Your Love On Me
Hope that's close enough!
Not been posting anything for a while but Leo at Frog Leap Studio on YouTube did some "interesting" metal style covers.

This guy on YouTube does a brilliant 'what if Iron Maiden wrote Dancing Queen' and it's brilliant. Check out his other videos as well

Maynard's other band : A Perfect Circle did it about 20 years ago
Another good YouTube channel is Tommy Johansson (ex Sabaton), my favourite is his Neverending story theme! Especially impressive as he plays all the different instruments in each song.
Make me smile (come up and see me), Steve Harley/ Cockney Rebel.
The Wedding Present covered it, but I reckon there's potential there.

Lol
Daughters orchestra played that at their Spring concert. Confuses a few parents.
Didn't stop some wag shouting "Encore!"
Don't think they can better their cover of Breadfan imho so arm oot.
I can imagine Metallica doing a pretty good job of Blue Monday personally.
I love stupid covers, after seeing Pendulum's take on Master Of Puppets I thought Metallica could do a bloody awesome Propane Nightmares

Therapy? had a crack at it a while back, it came out a little bit unhinged and probably not as metal as you want it but, worth a listen maybe.
