Chasing Rainbows by Shed Seven
I'd rather not have a funeral.
But if you did...
Always the Sun by the Stranglers
2 Live Crew - Hoochie Mama
Going underground the jam. Real one though is chasing cars snow patrol
What about something to shake it up a little? Crawl by Kings of Leon?
Weird. I dont like this chap at all. But this reminds me of why we're invited here.
I can see this playing as the flames lick over my sad bones!
BTW - Dont listen to this if even slighly down. Seriously.
Reminds me of hell!
Tom Jones. Skip to 2:00 if in a hurry.
This is what was played at my Nan's, such an emotive piece.
SAOAR-Afro Celt Sound System.
house is rockin' Stevie ray Vaughan..
Paul Weller - You Do Something To Me
Although I'd also like James - Sometimes
This.
It is just so full of emotion. One of the greatest tracks, ever.
Already asked the wife for this.
I think I may go for this... melancholic but uplifting
with the curtains round the coffin opening again
and for my wife
Good call 🙂
I'm not sure what would bring me the greater happiness, the finality or having lived a life with those I love
Just to make sure no ones smiling:
Bright eyes, simon and garfunkel stylee..
Going underground the jam.
I know of this actually happening. It was re-told to me as something that lightened a sombre reflection but I thought it was a probably an off hand joke that got remembered and acted upon. Might've worked though.
I try not to think about my own funeral. Surprisingly.
edit> I am such a cynic. Further editing has occurred.
according to my will....it'll be alien sex fiend "dead and buried"
You could always go for a bit of drama 🙂
This, but without the intro. Then again...
Surely this must be the one...
Stone Roses the remixes: Elizabeth my dear
REM its the end of the world as we know it (and I feel fine)
Primal Scream - Come Together
Louis Armstrong - what a wonderful world
Fatmax, you win 🙂
Born to Run - enough said
Not for me but for others I suggest ... Sound of silence ...
I played this to myself before my grandad's funeral and it helped, so, it's going in mine.
And possibly this.
Just because it seems appropriate, until it all kicks off... I have a nice image of them turning up the volume for the quiet bit, and then the powerchords kicking in and the whole congregation hitting the roof.
One step beyond for me
😈
Last one from me as Ive found the perfect track , there's no way you cant smile whilst listening to this.
This one maybe
But I have a history, so maybe this one
heaven can wait, meatloaf
we got tonight, bob seger
amazing grace, sung by a choir
I too do like, Always from Life of Brian,
<object width="480" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/h-ItkWLQ2Tw?fs=1&hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube-nocookie.com/v/h-ItkWLQ2Tw?fs=1&hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="390"></embed></object>
Sod.
Cant do the embedding thing.
Blue Pastures - James
This is pure narcissism. You're in a box. And still you want control? A funeral is for the people left. Let them do what they want. Really.

Hey, it's my big day, and sure it's for the people left but if they're there to remember me then my choices should do the job. It's not like we're making requests off the DJ here, hopefully these are songs that mean something to people.
You're in a box
It's hip to be square _ Huey lewis and the News
I'd think of it as one last hurrah, but the narcism thing is an interesting angle.
I think I'd like people to play a whole range of music, not just one song. I enjoy all sorts of music, so I'd like them to remember me in the same way.
As for the type of bodily disposal; boil me down to make glue. At least then I'd become useful. 😀
'course it's narcissism, it's your funeral, dammit, not theirs.
For me, Emmylou Harris' ‘Prayer In Open D’, (sorry, no YouTube video), followed by this
Tom Waits ‘Down In The Hole'
A bit of 80's pop?
Living in a box by living in a box
For my glan, it was always look on the bright side of life and yoda's theme from return of the jedi. Family thought id gone made but it's a really nice classical piece. Something similar for me I think.

I know its your funeral and all that but the sheds!! "at the link its easy....."
this is mine
The last funeral I went to (mate from school, aged 36, 2 kids and a wife 🙁 very very sad) he had "The Jam - You do something to me" and the good thing is every time I hear it I think of him.
Anyway,
Me well I hould have 2 -
1st - Pink Floyd "Comfortably Numb live" full verson from the album Delicate Sound fo Thunder.
2nd - Kraftwerk "Tour De France"
RIP Paul (my mate 36)
Id like to add another as well.
Narcissism? Maybe but equally it's a chance to remind people about you and hopefully for me to remind them that I'd hate it to be a miserable occasion. So something silly.
Wipe out - the fat boys version
One step beyond
God is a dj
That sort
Agreed. Having seen off both parents in the last 13 months, I can say that choosing three songs for each of them was a time filled with memories. My brother and I spent a while reminiscing, going over times we'd had with them in order to select stuff. As part of the grieving process, I'd say that was worth a lot.duntmatter - Member

Ash - Burn Baby Burn. It's my favourite song too. Probably right at the end when people are walking out.
Countdown 30sec timer as the box disappears through the curtain.... derduh derduh derderdaderderda duh!
At my Grandad's funeral, they played a recording of him and his Navy mates singing 'It's a long way to Tipperary'
Recorded whilst on active duty in 1941, somewhere in the mid Atlantic. There wasn't a dry eye in the place.
A pal of mine who died of overindulgance a few years ago had
Cigarettes and alcohol
Bad Moon Rising
Rehab
folk were stifling s****s all over the place
Already sorted for me
1st - Motorhead "Ace of Spades", specifically the lines:
Gambling is for fools
I know I'm going to lose
That's the way I like it baby
I don't want to live for ever
2nd - Don't really care so family can choose this one
Final - Aga Do Do Do - Might as well leave them laughing.
It is all specified in my envelope of death instructions.
"I'll never get out of this world alive" by Hank Williams
Or
"i hope it rains at my funeral" by Whiskeytown.
Nothing at all, do the job and get on with your life. The whole song thing is so crass, and adopted by good folk to mass murderers. Sorry but Whitney Houston is to funerals what here comes the bride is to weddings.
Though the last funeral I went to, my aunts, her partner stood up and sung. That was moving.
It might be my age, and the amount I've been to, but a CD now sounds so weak.
Anyway on that cheery note it's off to get ready for few hours in the rain.
How about?
"Don't fear the reaper" Blue Oyster Cult
"Ain't seen nothing yet" Bachman Turner Overdrive
"Why can't I be you?" The Cure
Depending of course on the message you wan to send.
Remember of course that it really is you last chance to take the mickey.
Led Zepplin- Stairway to heaven
Should get a few tears going 😀
Queen - who wants to live forever
Billy Joel - Only the good die young
Simply Red
If you don't know me by now...
This is my current choice, for reasons that currently elude me.
Don't really remember why I chose this. Came from a long drunken conversation with a friend of mine a while back. Can't recall what he chose.
I do remember that the only alcohol I chose to allow was lots of sherry [both sweet & dry] and food included heroic quantities of Jaffa Cakes.
I'm not one for morbid sendings off. I'd be happy in knowing that a pleasant afternoon's diversion was had by all.
I think that comfort during a funeral can be overlooked...
Gotta be this one (if I can keep still 😆 )
I love this song.
'Many Rivers to Cross' - Epic!!!
What about this one...
"**** You" by Dr. Dre
A guy a used to live next to had sadly lost one of his legs when hit by a car. He was a drummer and was really into his music. One day I woke up and he had died in a fire in his car whilst listening to music. It really shook me up. I remember just listening to a few songs that his band used to play. This one especially still makes me think of him.
Not quite a song, but it's my party and I'll die if I want to.....
Somethings burning by the stone roses!!
I'd quite like You can't have everything by Django Bates, the audience can sing along 🙂
Perfect funeral lyrics...[url=
I'll be on my way
This one would mean a lot to mrs STR......
Or, on a similar theme.....
