You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
My mate had Spirit in the Sky (Norman Greenbaum version), the church was absolutely packed, the look on everyone's faces! He'd told me a few months earlier in what I thought was a bit of a morbid conversation at the time that that was the song he wanted!
Motorhead - Remember me I'm gone

Think i prefer this version...
Motorhead ?, yeah. Motorhead - Dirty Love.

Half man half biscuit- see that my bike's kept clean
Can't see the youtube links on this here Kindle, so apologies if anyone has already suggested Smog' s Dress Sexy For My Funeral.
markfu 🙂
Not read the rest of the thread, but this.
Motorhead - Killed by Death
eugeo81 - Member
Prodigy - Fire Starter
My choice too.
Or Mogwai - Scotland's Shame. Not that I'm a Scot, or shameful, just a great piece of calming music.
Wendy loved Runrig; she said it was the soundtrack to her life. It seemed fitting to play Runrig at her funeral. We entered to Angels from the Ashes which is gentle and poignant piano music written about grief in the context of 9/11 To leave we had Maymorning which is bold and affirming: "I'm alive again".
I want All the Time in the World: "nothing more, nothing less, only love"
and
I may follow Peter Sellers' lead and have them play something that I really hate just because I won't be there to hear it.
This, for me 'Tubthumping'
Although I have given my buddy strict instructions to Gram Parsons my body. 🙂
therag - MemberA mate of mine had "feeling hot hot hot" as he went down in the crem.
He was a real joker and gave us all his last laugh.
Ace! Since we were in school, one of my friends has been adamant that he's having that song - will be overjoyed to know they allow it.
I've been wanting The Damned's "Under the floor again"
although it doesn't really tie in with the whole cremation (then mixed with clay so everyone can make Adam Ashtrays/Effigies to take home) thing too well. For mischief, I've been planning on having a "property of [friend's name]" tattoo on my rump if I get enough notice, as I'll be having the company he works for do my undertaking - should guarantee him a few days of ridicule..
(i'd like to squeeze Shooting At Unarmed Men's song Peristalsis into the proceedings somewhere, as everyone loves self loathing, prob'ly better for the pub afterwards though)
the only fragment that i could find - gets the point across..
Great choice TPbiker! 10 I would love to have a funeral like Gram!
I would like to go out on a high, with all the people present wearing ray-bans and leather flying jackets, this playing at 11 (even better if the organist can do it)......

Gabriel by Lamb. Beautiful.
A girlfriend once asked me what I would play at her funeral if she died, I suggested
she broke up with me....
Winter - Teenage Fanclub
video fail 🙁
John Martyn:
If You Don't Know Me By Now
The lovely Kate plus singletrack - perfect!
Stavro Jr. is under strict instructions to make sure Highway to Hell is played as I go into the oven. Mrs. S ain't too happy about it but she'll need to outlive me 😈
We seriously considered playing the version of Crossroads by Cream. One of my dads favourite songs but perhaps not massively appropriate when you consider the lyrics...
Sandwich- thank you for Iron Horse, that's awesome.
<edit- ZOMG, their version of Crazy Train wins music>
Led Zep Kashmir. I've loved this song forever.

Link not working, never does from here....
EDIT: ok, maybe it IS working
And for when I eventually take my own life... (not being morbid but time is finite and NO WAY am I going into a home)

and this

then on to some rock'n'roll and drinking and dancing!

I really must go to bed!
This is the first song I thought of when i saw the thread title:
and i have made the other half promise to play this as they dish out my ashes to be scattered by my family and friends and their favourite spots:
Maybe this should be a separate thread but if my life flashes before my eyes when I die I want Nimrod to be the soundtrack:
A mate of mine had "feeling hot hot hot" as he went down in the crem.
That's my current plan that and, as an aside, anyone dressed in black is barred 😉
My playlist varies but I want this as my parting shot - the timing will need to be spot on with the final note as the curtains close again.
Everyone picking these inspired, deep and meaningful songs designed to make attendees consider what an amazing person you were, just bear in mind 99% of the people in the room are bored and thinking about food / football / child benefit cuts so do the right thing and don't bother. It's needlessly self-indulgent, nobody is sitting there thinking this is a great song wow that guy had such great taste, stop fantasising about yourself.
You will die. When you do don't take up any more of our time than necessary.
'Drink With Me' from les Miserables. It would mean something to those who are important to me.
Original London Cast Version.
1) Monkey Gone to Heaven by Pixies
2) I'll Never Get Out of this World Alive by Hank Williams
And if i should die in a house fire, "I Was In The House When The House Burned Down", by Warren Zevon. Got a whole mental list of songs to be played in different scenarios. I really should write them down.
When you do don't take up any more of our time than necessary.
I would hope that when attending a funeral of a family member or friend those attending would have some connection with the deceased otherwise why turn up?
Get the feeling skillwill is not too old and possibly hasn't had one of those poignant, moving moments at a loved one's funeral as yet. Or might just be a miserable ****er 🙂
Not figured the actual track yet, but about a minute after the curtains close I plan to record myself over it tapping on wood and saying "Let me out"....c'mon its not funny anymore.......Its getting hot now.....
This addressed at the audience:
And this about me, for the anarchy inside my head:
Nothing like going out with some irreverence for it all. Can't abide by all the sad stuff, life's a big fat joke.
Beautiful song and sentiment
THANK YOU FOR THE DAYS BY THE KINKS
BURNING DOWN THE HOUSE BY TALKING HEADS
Not a song I realise but this on a projector in the background would be mine.
Fine Young Cannibals
I'm Not the Man I Used to Be
( chorus if not exact title )
