Canaries are reliably warm although it can get cold at night. I've been to GC a couple of times at Christmas, 20+ degrees during the day is normal.

Flights are 4hrs though from "north" UK.

I spent a few days in Malaga in January this year. A very pleasant temperature. Quite amusing to see the locals in big puffa/ski jackets whilst our party were in shorts & t-shirt! The evenings did get chilly tho.
The riding was excellent too!

I like Malaga. Canaries- Fuerte and Lanza can be a bit sterile. Tenerife is great, warm in the south, interesting in the north. Never been to GC or La Gomera, they look dead nice though.

Gran Canaria is great for cycling. Very Climby though... Preferred it to Majorca myself. You want to be in the south for the sun.

The tdf teams winter round here in Costa blanca. Nice sunny days but a bit chilly at night, for the locals anyway. I would stay here and get a good gym/spa membership for post ride. Lots of other things to do aside from cycling - Barcelona, valencia or Madrid.

pissed it down in Malaga when I went there. Hey ho. So that's malaga: always raining (in my head, I know it's meant to rain other side of the mountains, hence all the channels you can mtb along bringing the water and snowmelt round). N. Lanza was great for the roadbike the one Feb we went there - brilliant quiet roads, loads of bikes, v laid back divers. G Canaria plenty to go at but busier with traffic. Temps were mid-20s and came back with a tan. Fuerte I didn't bother. Surf didn't drop.

Marrakech, fabulous at that time of year. And be interesting for the non cyclist as well.

Stay in the old town.

I've got a flat on the Costa Blanca, and live in Madrid... it's hardly local 🙂

Decent but not hot weather in Jan/Feb though, and expect chilly evenings. Personally I'd head to the Canaries or Madeira if I wanted a guarantee of decent warm weather.

I usually go to Malaga for a weeks mountain biking - Usually warm in the daytime - Although there is a slight risk of rain at that time of year
