Any recommendations for somewhere to stop off on the drive from Hamburg to Aachen?
We'll be leaving Hamburg in the morning but don't need to be in Aachen until following day. So we'll be looking for a city to stop off have a wander round, stay overnight, then have an hour or two in the morning before head to Aachen. Have considered Hanover or Dortmund but unsure, put off a little by Hanover as a summer festival (Maschseefest) starts the day we would arrive.
Not Munster either, we're stopping there on the way out.
Hüsten and visit the Mohnesee dam.
Aaachen... years ago I spent a week in bed there with a very fit German girl. Never saw the town but I'm told it's nice.
