Was going to post this on the other of tonight's music threads, but it feels like it needs its own.

I love a bit of obscure, beard stroking, nerdy music as much as any STWer, but sometimes something from the mainstream can't be ignored. Hearing this a lot on the radio right now and, although it's a bit derivative (especially if you're a fan of Busted or Sunday morning TV), I don't think I've heard a better bit of well-crafted sugary pop for a while.

What's your guilty (not guilty) modern pop pleasure?

Was listening to some pop muzik just now. It’s very good and more popalicious IMO than the original. Both are ace.

Pop songs and credibility are not mutually exclusive.

This is a pop song:

Maybe I'm doing them an absolute disservice calling them sugary pop (although Don't forget the kisses is EXACTLY that) but because they are AWESOME but I propose a lot of Wolf Alice. A random example:

‘Pop’ is just a contraction of ‘popular’ music, which I guess includes Wolf Alice, considering the awards they’ve been given, but they’re unlikely to be heard on Radio 1, Heart, or any of the other commercial pop radio stations.
Neither is this, but the band are about as ‘pop’ as you can get!

I believe this got a fair amount of radio play, and may have charted, it’s certainly pop, compared to many of their recordings...
...and it’s on 4AD, to boot!

This was number 2 in the U.K. charts in 1972, IIRC, all of the band were still in their teens when it was recorded...

Pop music at its best.
