This has to be a classic sleeper. I’m tempted. Anyone had any experience of them in coupe or avant style?

If I was Ed China, I'd on the way right now to pick that up.

That is so cool, but given the condition and the legendary cost of parts for the (almost unbelievably) less-rare Coupe version I can only see it becoming a terrifying money pit.

it seems to be incorrectly described - from what I'm reading he's claiming that because its the turbo it has the engine from the ur quattro, but that's not the case at all - the 100 had a fairly low-powered 5cl turbo (160bhpish) - the ur quattro might have shared a block with it but was a significantly different, more powerful car

It would make a great classic MTB hauler, a bit different to the usual T5's/Skoda's and other more typical cars you see around...wouldn't want to be hooning around at any speed in it though...the handling was not any good even in their day and the years are not going to have made it any better. In anycase it will be a money pit. A chap at work has a UR coupe Quattro, in pretty good nick, but still ends up costing him a pretty penny.

Think I'd prefer something like this though if I had a ton of cash to throw at a money pit...

To be fair the chap describes it as being a good potential donor car for anyone with a proper UR Quattro so it sounds like, at least, the seller is convinced its a genuine UR powertrain.

@5lab I’ll admit to not knowing this until I read up on them just now, but being a facelift / late model car it’s possible it had the 220 2.2 20v engine, but I’m due if it did the seller would have gone to to trouble of mentioning it and/or putting a pic of the engine bay on the ad. Like you say probably the 2.1 10v 160.

I drove one of those three weeks after passing my test. If that wasn't terrifying enough for my mother when she found out, I was towing one of these behind too...

Quick check with the vendor confirms it’s the lower powered 10v engine.

My friends dad had a succession of those 200's back in the 90's. Fastest I've ever been on the A9 was in one exactly like the one in the ad.
Great car at the time, but most likely outgunned by any old TD these days.

I reckon a much better sleeper would be a late 90's A6 V8.

bomb proof, the 10v is a lump, not hugely powerful by modern comparison but a big lump of torque

suspension from what i can remember on a mates 80 saloon quatro was fwd stuff but reversed.

all in all there is no reason not too.

unless you want trim pieces...........
