There was a witness who gave me the model details and the reg no but I've forgotten to take their contact details and there's no cctv.
Will the fuzz do anything or am I going to have to suck this up?
Do you have the reg? Get on to the fuzz they will need to record it even if you have little detail!
Apparently if you contact the insurance, they will send out an assessor to check the other car.
How much damage? Its a pain but I'd be tempted to suck it up to save the risk of higher insurance premiums for the next 5 years.
All too common nowadays 🙁
I got up one morning to find a crack and some scuffing on my front bumper but no damage to lights or radiator, which I'd expect if some had crashed into the front of my car at any speed.
Chips Away sorted it out for less than the price of my excess
happened to us recently, proper stoved in the front bumper. Went round the car park checking other cars for damage, found some too, most of the cars there had scuffs and scrapes. Didn't bother reporting it to anyone, just been through the protracted hassle of a difficult claim, not doing that again (plus car was still beaten up from the last one)
I had this in a shopping centre car park. No witnesses and all the CCTV was pointing towards the shops, not towards the cars. Had to just suck it up and pay.
My mum had the same thing though but there was a witness who got reg, what the woman looked like etc. All went through the police who sent letters to the person who did it asking her to come forward and provide a statement which she ignored until the police went around. Then she denied she was even there and that my mum and the witness were making it up (yep, they plucked her description, her car type and the correct reg from thin air).
In the end the police didn't do anything but with threats of court she eventually coughed up, whilst still denying it was her.
