Solution for carrying tools on a bike?

I often find myself not being able to find a tool because it's hidden somewhere in one of several paniers after the last time I went to fix something somewhere.  The correct answer of course is to be more organized and always put things back as soon as I get in but usually it's late and I forget.  So I was wondering if anyone has any nice bike portable ways of carrying a random bunch of tools.  If I have one bag designed for the job then I'm more likely to always use the same bag and stop misplacing stuff

Ideally I would like to be able to carry a drill, hammer, bits, screwdrivers, spanners, multimeter and random bunch of bits and get to them without scrabbling around in the bottom of a bag.

Anyone got anything nice?

I just ride it and sitting on the saddle seems to be the solution

Topeak MTX rack on the top of a rack that slides on. Avoid the ones with fold down pannier pockets. They are a decent size. You can add dividers.

Topeak MTX

That's looking like a strong possibly.  I think I might even have a rack kicking around with that fitting which would be perfect. Time to go look at the sizes

Thanks

I'd be inclined to make a massive tool roll, that fits in a pannier.

When you get to where you need drill etc, pull whole thing out and unroll it...

That's also going on the list of ideas as well

You can get an adaptor that will allow you to mount anything to those MTX racks. It’s designed for a basket, but you could bolt it to the bottom of a toolbox.

and

The mounting is very secure. I like the beam rack which I swap between bikes, and I have a fixed rack on the trike on which the bag lives normally.

Yep.  My wife has an e-bike with a rack that uses the MIK system so I put a big basket on the back using a similar plate.  I need to see if I can find where my MTX rack is now

I have a tool belt with most of that stuff  (minus the drill and multimeter) all having their own place. Drill (+ bits, rawlplugs & a few screws) has it's own neoprene holster bag. Together they fit in a single pannier.

One stores one's tools in the downtube storage facility designed for this purpose.

I did see a guy who was making a modular storage system based on a euro crate that'd fit on that plate for shopping/commuting purposes.
