Hi

I want to buy my folks some tickets for a concert in 8 weeks time
Of course theyve only just told me this is what they want and its now sold out 🙁

Ive heard lots of horror stories about mark ups, forgeries, etc etc etc and I havent got a clue on how to go about this assuming I stick to one of the established reseller companies

Any pointers would be muchos appreciated

Ive had a quick look and there are tickets available for what I think is a bearable mark up on Viagogo, the small print on this site says the seller only gets paid after I confirm successful entry to the gig so would seem to protect me from forgeries and scammers

Are any reselling sites better or worse than others?
And general pointers on avoiding being scammed would be great too 🙂

Cheers - this is not something Ive done before and being paranoid it seems ripe for scammers and ne'er do wells

Can only vouch for viagogo I'm afraid. A mate and I have used them for a fair few gigs and never had any problems. So if the mark-up is bearable there, then I'd advise that route if it's an important purchase.

Stubhub. It's an eBay company.

There's Getmein, which is owned by Ticketbastard. You'll probably have your pants pulled down on price, but they are at least legit.

Viagogo worked fine for me.

This ^^
I've checked out Getmein before after a gig sold out before I found out about it, and the prices made me wince!
Only if you're absolutely desperate.
If it's a major act, leaving it until two months before the gig is a big mistake, when tickets go on sale up to a year in advance, six months is average.

I've used stub hub for sold out gigs before.
No problems at all. If tickets don't turn up then they will refund

i would really like to go to few music events but it all seems a bit of a rip off, are the no options to buy tickets that likely to be less irritating than the events pleasurable ?

it's a bit rough but if i can't get tickets for a performance/show , i won't go to it your only lining other peoples pockets and encouraging the ticket touting process to continue until people stop paying over the top prices then its only going to get harder to legit fans to get tickets. sad but true.
