As in the title, I participated in a council run group buy scheme, where there are differenct sub-contractors doing the panels, then electrics etc. and someone remotely project managing. Anyway, lots of issues from bad panel placement to running out of conduit and laying bare cable etc. To solve these issues, cables are being cut and re-joined. From my basic knowledge of electrics every join creates an efficiency loss and is a potential source of problem especially outside. Should I be on their case because of unnecessary joins or am I making a mountain out of a molehill?

They have come back several times, but I'm not confident that they won't just add another issue if I do call it out.

no, not to any meaningful level

is a potential source of problem especially outside

true.  But if done properly with the right connectors I don’t see why this should be an issue.

no experience of solar personally, im a general purpose electronic engineer.

MC4 connectors should be completely water and dust proof. And shouldn't resulting in any meaningful losses.

That's not to say that connectors can't be faulty (or fakes) but unless there's a fault then what's the problem?
