I'm looking for some software which will allow me to create a 5 minute clip with videos of a speaker and also to show slides/images at certain points in the video (adding credits would also be a bonus)
It needs to be as easy to use as possible as the end user is not super comfortable with computers, for Windows (as that's all they have available) and either free or cheap.
I know it's a long shot - but is there anything out there that will fit the bill?
prezi is free if can put up with the material being in public domain and has easy tutorials
use windows live movie make to create video content?

Windows Movie Maker is the starting point really for free & cheap, I think Prezi still brands the free stuff they do. Combine it with powerpoint or work to export the slides as something you can import into Movie Maker.
Simple workflow would be to put the video of the speaker in, if you want to have silence during the slides cut the video into sections if not you should be able to overlay the slide onto the video. Probably a simple template for having the slide and the presenter in a corner somewhere. Credits should be built in too.
ah nice one - I've not used windows for anything other than work or games for almost a decade so I had no idea Movie Maker had become something actually useful
