We have set aside a day this week for sofa shopping. Travelling from Basingstoke up to an hour where would you go? Current options are Southampton, Swindon or that load of shops Camberley/Farnborough way.

Thoughts?

Edit: should probably add that we are not committed to buying this week but want a spot that has as many styles on offer as possible.

Would suggest that Vale Furnishers in Ash Vale is worth a visit. Also John Lewis which would mean West Quay I guess.

Edit: also Guildford?

It's a bit far north for you, but Sofa.com have an outlet shop in House of Fraser in Doncaster. Prices wayyyy below the website price, like £5-600 for a sofabed that's £1360+ on their website.

Online from your current sofa - life is too short to go to a retail parks. Besides, some companies are the same e.g. DFS/Sofology. Bought 3 different sofas in the last few years for our new build house - Sofa Sofa/Thomas Lloyd were very good as were Swyft. Cocoon however were dire - they didn’t realise that an Isle of Mull address meant it was a Scottish Island and sent it all the way back from the UK to Poland to put it on a different truck.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Stay at home option not really a goer. We want to be able to sit on the thing to see how it feels.

There is a dfs in S'ton, Swindon and Farnborough. Would the one shop be enough of a choice? The map shows a sofology near the Swindon DFS. Is that in the same building?

Thanks for the info on sofa sofa/TL, swyft and cocoon. All useful stuff as it's quite likely we'll walk away without buying. Good to have options of looking at similar stuff online. 9nce we've sat o. Some it'll be clearer about we want.

+1 for Vale Furnishings, fantastic shop, huge range and old school good service.

You also have all the furniture / sofa stores in one place, close by in Farnborough on the Solartron Retail Park.
