So I’m known to buy random shit from tkmax, over a year ago I bought a three pack of Socks
Proper ribbed old school socks, they are brilliant, cool in summer & warm in winter, they are so much better than buying cheap £1 a pair socks & replacing them every few months. So now I’m a convert & the linked company have none for sale which brand/ style do you recommend?
Cheers.
M&S Merino £15/3 still going strong 8 years later
I’ve just got some hebtroco ones, not cheap, but very nice. Only got them t’other day though so can’t comment on longevity.
Also had some Quiet Rebellion ones, longer than normal, but super comfy and still going strong 2 years later.
Thanks all, to quantify a little I remember (the rich, bragging basted that is) Chris Evans saying on R2 that a new pair of socks every day was the way forward & it only cost a pound a day so why wouldn’t you, well it’s still £365 per year & that matters to most when a less throw away society would favour longevity over frivolity, I suppose 😉
I've got some endure merino and they're lovely.
Best part of my day putting those on...
Just don't assume spending lots makes them good socks.
Sockguy socks.ie the one ride wonders.
Not cheap. Not good.
M+s do good office socks.
Alpkit do good riding socks
Decathlon do good running socks
Norrona or Madison Isoler merino my current faves.
Been buying bamboo socks for work/ knocking about after my wife got some posted to her for free. They’re really good and comfy. Often have a decent offer on them.
Brigdale merino blend walking socks.
****ing freezing out in the snow tonight. Broke through some ice and soaked my right foot. Still as warm as my left by the end of the ride.
Not cheap but worth it.
I love my woolie boollies at this time of year, were half price at crc.
Bridgedale or smartwool are my go to fancy socks for non cycling stuff.
For cycling I like Pearl Izumi attack in the summer or Endura Baabaa for winter. Adding to the evidence that expensive doesn't necessarily equal quality, Assos socks have disintegrated disappointingly quickly around the heal.
I dont have much call for posh socks these days but for socks to keep my feet cool the nosilife range from craghoppers are really good.
For comfort and warmth the bridgedale trekkers seem to be the best I've ever worn. Trained for the Nijmegen marches in them and had no problem even after covering several hundreds of miles.
Keela Expedition Sock with Primaloft Fibres are amazing. They are "footed" so have an L & R on them so you know which foot is which which is handy. Just need some gloves for the wife as well so she knows which is her left and right.
Not cheap but toasty warm and comfortable.
Finisterre socks. It's all i wear have some token thick Finisterre for when it's really cold
Woolie Boolie merino socks.
Life is too short for anything else.
Just need some gloves for the wife as well so she knows which is her left and right.
You could get some Knickers from C&A 🙂
Bridgedale Trail, wool blend and very long lasting. Comfy, great for general use. My go to 'daily driver' sock. (Reeches into bucket)
smartwool don't last in my experience, so v poor value
Currently rocking Bam (bamboo) that santa brought. So far very pleased - warm for weight (thin), very comfy, lush in bed on a chilly night.

I don't have personal experience, but this lot advertise on a podcast I listen to and they sound excellent. I've been meaning to get some for a little while now. They donate a pair to homeless charities for every pair sold too.

Thanks all, I think I will give some Bridgedale's a go based on the amount of recommendations.
Cheers.
