Looking for some new outdoorsy/active socks

I bought a pack of the ulvang socks that were recommended on here in December 2015 but they're worn through underneath which is slightly disappointing considering I don't wear them to work so I can't have worn them that much

I have a pair of darn tough socks on order to check them out. I also have a £30 gift voucher from mountain warehouse so will probably pick up a few pairs of their socks at some point.

Does anyone have any good recommendations? Merino or wool based, slightly thicker than dress socks, funky patterns and colours or grey/black, suitable for size 11 feet, looking for above ankle height or normal lowish calf height

The planetx ones are really good. Got 4 pairs last week, toasty!

Layers, for me the relevation for an end to permanently cold feet has been to adopt the same approach to clothing as I do for my torso, so I now use two pairs of thinner socks for toasty toes.

Thin merino base layer socks and then something else over those. Brasher’s seem to be durable.

+1 for Planet X / On-One merino socks, they're all I wear these days.

COSTCO merino ones. Packs of four it’s all I wear unless I’m at the gym.

My mum randomly bought me a three pack of pairs of Mountain Warehouse socks. They’re not merino, or mega flash, but they are very warm and seem to be ok when they are wet too.

Thanks everyone. I was hoping to avoid on one ideally, sounds popular though. Any particular socks in their range?

If it helps the on one socks I've had have either shrunk or gone threadbare really quickly. The save our soles Merino socks are excellent if they still do them, thin but hard wearing.

WBs are okay but quite thick.

PX merino are good budget.

Madison Isoler Merino 3-season are my faves though. Tough, supple, comfy, not too thick, good colours, last well...

Those madisons look good, thanks

I've bought a few pairs from mountain warehouse last night as they had a flash sale on top of their standard sale. Will try those out and then work through the other options depending how they go (I've bought about 6 pairs!)
