[Closed] Socks?

So, usually I'll buy a load of socks at once, all the same, sports cotton type things. Last lot I got from Sports Direct and they were poor but usable, used to leave a lot of bits on my feet when I took them off. It's time to get some new ones but none of my local shops sell them like this and I don't want a half hour trip to the nearest town, try to find expensive parking and spend the next hour looking for socks. So questions is, where's a good online recommended place to bulk buy decent socks? Don't want thin suit type jobbies but long lasting decent thick-ish sports type socks, grey or black.

What did you get? Anyone?

I just buy the Nike sports socks from Sports Direct and when they wear out, buy new ones.

I always get my socks from TKMaxx as fussy so like to be able to see them rather than just order online - they have a huge selection

I get mine from M&S - all the same black ones.

In the summer (ie when I am in shorts) I wear stubbie running socks which I get from SportsShoesDirect.

Edit - just done a search for Dickies socks and found them at £4.99 for two pairs at Aldi...

tkm here also.

I think filing a chamfer on your toenails helps with the sock-destroying thing.

Matalan cotton sports socks are not bad, not too expensive.

Also Karrimor boot socks from SportsDirect are quite nice, for something a bit thicker. Usually about £5 for 3 pairs.

Bamboo socks are significantly more comfortable than any others I've ever tried - and to ease the pain Bam have 20% off until midnight Sunday 30th September when using the code NFD20.

Got a set for Mr TW and he is very happy with them.  I've got two sets of the women's ones and I think they are great value.  I am really picky about socks and wear boots to work every day.

If you're doing an order from Planet X or On One chuck a few of these in the basket...

https://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CLHOLTESCS/holdsworth-sorbtek-cycling-socks

Only £1 per pair for the black ones.

Very comfy socks and seem to be lasting well. The ones I got didn't have the stripes on the top either, just plain black with the white writing.

Life is too short to save a couple of quid on socks. Crap ones ruin your day.. I wear Merino wool ones. few quid more expensive than cotton but wool is cooler and stops my feet from getting sweaty.

Same with running ones, any tiny issue is magnified on a 10 mile run... I tend to be quite light on them. Buy good ones and they seem to last for years.

Avoid socks that fit all sizes from newborns to giants. Also does anyone have a sure fire way of knowing if the sock to potentially purchase will attempt to cut the circulation off to your feet while making a big dent in your leg because I hate them even more than socks that fit newborns and giants.

tkmax. Some of the green tree bamboo ones. Not the longest survival rate in the world but not too hot and fairly comfy.

Running Bear socks

Toasty, and good value, just remember to wash as woolens and they'll last for years.

Its the nike Colin Kaepernick  campaign. Some country and western muppet cutting off the nike symbol because, well, why not?

There's different thicknesses of wool...! Don't wear thick ones in the summer etc..

The BAM bamboo people keep sending my wife free pairs of their socks. she's had two pairs come through the post so far, she's never bought any from them or even surfed their website.

they posted her a 15% offer code cc44 that may last longer than the 30th sept if anyones interested. They are lovely socks by the way.

Alpkit Merino.

Mine are now about 10 years old and refuse to die. Really comfy too - more so than my Icebreaker Merino or HellyHansen Merino.

Maybe "cooler" is the wrong word but my feet feel drier when I am in the office so maybe they just breathe better.

For as long as I can remember my Auntie Kitty used to buy me black M&S lambs wools socks. As a child I hated them obviously. But thank you Auntie Kitty ,wise gift.

&Woolie boolie for cycling.

&cheapo trainer socks for summer .

I am also partial to a garishly coloured pair too & wear odd ones on mental health awareness days!

The bamboo socks I got on offer from TK maxx are lovely but they seem to get holes in them alarmingly easily. I reckon 5 pairs of socks delivered about 20days use. Not recommended for the rough t footed brigade

Likewise - cotton-rich sports socks, been buying them for years, they last years, too; pretty sure I’ve got one or two pairs that are at least five or six years old that haven’t got a hole in the heel.

Looking at trying some work socks with Kevlar toe and heel reinforcing, I’ve still got two pairs of Large Hardware socks, got to be at least twenty years old, sadly one pair have little holes in the heel, just above the Kevlar area, so it definitely works. Loath to bin them, not sure if it’s possible to darn them or not.
