How is that not a red card, last defender FFS!

I thought that was a straight red.

Not what I expected at all this. Do you think the Chelsea players have a meeting before each game and decide whether they’re going to bother turning up or not?

Well it might not end up being the worst day for Liverpool with a big game in the legs for City - though Sarri just lost the dressing room unless they win this, it's absolute madness here at the very least it will have completely screwed up the mindset for the shoot out - the boss looks like his nicotine patch has run out

Can’t ever remember seeing a player refuse to be substituted like that in a lot of years of watching football. Let’s hope for his sake he does the business now!! Feel sorry for Sarri.

That is amazing, but once the board goes up, is it the refs job yo make sure he goes off? Probably no rules to cover it though.

Well I was hoping Keppa would make a couple of fantastic saves, let down by Jorginho and that first one to let the pressure off city.

Good job it's not a long trip home on the coach for Chelsea

In any other club, someone carrying on like that would be on the transfer list tomorrow morning, but as it’s Chelski they’ll just do the usual and sack the manager

Nice trophy in the bag for City but I thought Chelsea competed well even if they barely attacked in the first half. Kante probably MOTM for me.

The goalkeeper refusing to come off was disgraceful - I think Moss should have sent him off after Sarri explained he wanted to sub him.

Glad he stayed on though as Caballero is great at saving penalties as he proved when we beat Liverpool. If he had been in the shootout with his knowledge of the City players Chelsea could have been victorious.

I hope Chelsea back Sarri - he is a very good manager who deserves better from his players.

If you ever needed any proof of where the power lies at Chelski, you got it tonight.

The players can basically do what the hell they like. Who on earth would want the job as Chelski manager, other than for the inevitable pay off.

Surely Sarri will be gone ‘by mutual consent’ tomorrow

The ‘special one’ back for a third time, as the United fans were singing at Stamford Bridge last week? 😂

Faced with sticking with those players and a transfer ban he will probably go.

606 just said the FA rules are the player can refuse to come off.

Chelsea will struggle to attract a top manager due to the transfer ban, and the fact they will likely lose their best player, Hazard, in the summer.
Maybe a job for John Terry!

Or Frank Lampard? - think he will manage there sooner or later.

Reports are the Fernandinho and Laporte could both be out for a few weeks - will be an expensive win if that proves to be the case.

If a goalkeeper has to come off because he has cramp, he needs sacking anyway because clearly he isn't fit enough.

(and that's from an ex-goalkeeper)

Perfect MOTD combo if they are allowed to talk about the league cup, Gullit being the man who subbed Shearer in a tyne wear derby which got him the sack.

I just hope Hazard gets a move to a properly big club in the summer. He's too good a player to waste any more time with the endless turnover of managers at Chelsea.
His penalty was just brilliant. To have the skill and nerve to do that knowing it's game over if you miss was just amazing. I was disappointed with Sky for not showing endless repeats from multiple angles.
Also pleased to see Sterling step up and score the winning penalty. Hope those arseholes that were hurling abuse at him earlier in the season enjoyed that.

Sarri needs to go - not producing the results, and clearly lost the dressing room.

Kepa also needs to go - the majority of the Chelsea squad is toxic, and a message needs to be sent that no player is bigger than the club.

New manager needed and a clear out of the deadwood/toxic squad members - difficult given the transfer ban, but in the long term it's the right decision. A couple of seasons of 6-10th place finishes and rebuild.

Spurs did it when Poch arrived, getting rid of the troublemakers - Adebayor, Kaboul, Lennon, Chiriches, Livermore, Townsend etc, leaving the players who wanted to fight for the manager and club. Chelsea need to do the same.

Looking back after some time (well to stop laughing) the issue that stands out is that Kepa didn't seem to know there was a plan to swap him for penalties - that should have been 100% clear as they entered Extra time and went hey went into the 2nd half

Yeah, not a great deal of communication, but regardless of when the decision was planned, it's no excuse - if the manager wants you off, you leave the field. You don't defy his (or her) orders in front of millions of fans. He shouldn't play for Chelsea again IMO.

Not sure that makes a lot of sense if i'm honest.

He's a decent manager but won't get the time and patience if recent history at Leicester carries on... If results go the way they could... he'll be out on his ear before Aug.

Aye he's away, tbh, I'm entirely non-plussed about it, his huff earlier in the year spelled out that it was going to end sooner rather than later anyhow.

See ye later. If he can't work with the budget, which he knew what it was. Then probably best we part ways.

It's modern football, you need to keep moving while your stock is high, if you fail somewhere, unless someone else takes a chance with you, then you fall off a cliff, a la Moyes.

Realistically, a top 4 side isn't gonna take a manager from Scotland, so the likes of Rodgers has to take that initial step to a mid table club, and have confidence in his abilities to make that work.

Best of luck to him, I think he'll have learnt a hell of a lot from his nearly-season at Liverpool.

His teams try and play good football and the nonsense he comes out with should keep press conferences and interviews entertaining. Good luck to him.

Breaking news up here that Rodgers is off to Leicester.

Has Scottish football got such a bad international reputation now that someone who has won the treble twice in the past 2 years can only get a job at a lower mid pack Premiership club?

I suppose it has, between that and the Premiership having such a high opinion of itself. It's a much higher stakes game down there though, Kilmarnock frinstance have been top 3 or 4 for a good while now, their maximum wage is £1200 a week, £400 win bonus.

Young local lad left Rangers at 16 to go to Chelsea, he's on 22k a week.

Any manager could win the league if they were put in charge of Celtic. Even Ronny Deila did! Rodgers wants to test himself again - may be quite a shrewd move, there's a few decent young players at Leicester.

In Scotland, yes, the league in recent years has been a procession, but on the verge of 3 trebles, is still good in anyones book. I think you belittle too much there.

Where Rodgers should really be judged though is in Europe, and he's not done great there. Too busy greeting about funds, despite knowing the limitations. One thing that really annoyed me about him was him constantly talking about ceilings and how far he could take us. It's was his job to punch above and do better.

He's a decent manager, far too defensively naive imo though, and he'll be wanting the chequebook opened, we're limited there, I'd suggest leicester will be too in comparison with the rest of the league, so any thoughts winning leagues again is pie in the sky.

He'll do ok with leicester, but I think he'll jump at the first chance of a bigger club. (If he doesn't get sacked first, we know what you lot are like down there 😆 )

And just be warned, it was a fairly ****ish way he went about things with us.

Lennon and 2 others getting spoken to apparently. Which i think will be interim till the summer, then see what's what. I don't think it just happened yesterday, but i don't think we've been given enough notice to sort something.

I think we've all had an idea it was coming, but we were just hoping it'd be a better transition than this nonsense.

So big night at the wrong end again tonight, hoping we can make Sean grumpy again with all sorts of records falling at SJP (opponent sent off, penalty to us, player running at opposition goal keeper more than once)
Big night for Silva and Everton too, not good to be done over by Cardiff.

I hope he gets the move he needs and can come back some day. I’ll happily applaud him at the end of the season wherever he moves to. The way he has responded this season has been exemplary and something a few others should look at.

Well the Arsenal Spurs result was certainly the best result for us.

We made hard work of that, but 3 points puts us 4th again and only 3 points behind spurs.

I never thought I'd be saying that before Ole turned up

Everton were motivated today for what feels like a change - fancied a result despite us being mince, Goodison derbies are always close and it was a good time to play the Big Red Bottlers.

Everyone wants to give Silva as long as it takes but he's testing us. Don't mind a rough season if he gets us pointing in the right direction, but there's not been much to go on in that regard. He needs to make a tough decision with Siggurdson - good player, expensive player, wrong player for his football.

Yep, very calm and a physical presence too, quick and commanding. I wonder if defences will win it this year? I do think City are slight favourites but their injuries are mounting up a little whereas Liverpool are only lacking Gomez. Oxlade-Chamberlain too of course but rumoured to be back April time - might boost Liverpool's midfield a bit which looks a bit pedestrian. Thought Shaqiri might have featured more of late as well.

Liverpool have 5 of their 9 games at home, City have 4. Both have Spurs at home while Liverpool have Chelsea too but City have the derby away. I think it could go to the last couple of games, maybe even the final match. I can't call the other two teams to make the top four though.

As for who's joining Huddersfield and Fulham - Cardiff? Form seems to have stuttered, Newcastle and Southampton have enough quality I think and Burnley will grind it out.
