I’m also pleased to see refs dutifully heeding Pep’s call to protect players by issuing, in last night’s case, a red card for s dangerous challenge. About time.

"Delph sending off was a bit harsh but he was stupid giving Taylor the opportunity to make the decision"

It looked a definite red at full speed, maybe didn't look as bad on slow mo, but I think the only argument against it could be the series of far worse tackles dished out to city that have gone unpunished. At least half a dozen times in the past couple of months, referees have told city players that kind of tackle is acceptable. This is where refereeing consistency is a must.

Interesting take on the sending off on the BBC where they reported that on their poll 69% of people thought it should have been a red card so therefore a 50:50 decision.

I'm still trying to work out the logic of that one!

I’ve seen some bad performances from Arsenal recently, but this game against the Swedish no hopers takes the biscuit!  Truly abysmal across the board and almost given up our 3-0 away result in the first half!

a goal back at the start of the 2nd half just papers over the cracks!

As an arsenal fan employed at Östersund Council who has spent most of the day saying we'll win 7-0 on aggregate I am utterly dreading going to work tomorrow.

Only because the idiotic commentators and fans won't let it. The exasperation of the commentators is reaching comedic levels and the booing from the fans is simply pathetic. I've only seen the game from immediately before the penalty decision, but I thought the VAR got everything right.

I don't recall ever seeing such an empty dead stadium for a premier league stadium.

there is no shame these days in being beaten by this city side

That said Arsenal have been like this for years so its the other results not this once.

As a friend said today - after i said no one had destroyed Wengers legacy more than wenger- " the only people upset by Wenger leaving will be Spurs fans"

Its such a same - I think this is the fourth season I have said this.

To be fair to arsenal, it is just those moments of sheer quality that separate them.

Discuss- Ederson, the best goalkeeper in the league?

He isn't the best shot stopper so if that's all you want from a goalkeeper then no he isn't. But he has got to be quickest off the line to close down balls behind the defence, is commanding in collecting crosses and corners, and makes passes that half the outfield players in the league would be proud of.

Has an arsenal player actually put a tackle in during this game? Maybe they should give it a go?

Ozil is having one of those games where he looks like he’d rather be having his finger nails pulled out than be on the pitch. None of the rest of them look particularly interested either

the best goalkeeper in the league?

He isn’t the best shot stopper

That will be no then  Best Libero keeper possibly but best keeper no.

It was a bit of a ballsy move, but I think wearing roller-skates has really backfired on Danny Welbeck.

Luckily the prized spot in the Europa League 3rd Qualifying round could still be available for Arsenal despite last weekend's result. Unless Burnley catch them.

They'll probably win the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League....so Arsene can continue to trouser his £200k per week.

Indeed. After all, Bayern won't be there to fluke their way past Arsenal this time around.

I was there!  Jeez it was cold too!  Fortunately I wasn't expecting much and was right....we were just inept, but Citeh just purr.  Ive said all season that Sane is a wonderful player, but seeing him up close, he's so bloody quick, as they all are.  We looked like Cart Horses in comparison.

Surely Le Prof will go at the end of the season, even he must now see its over!

They've AC Milan next, so doubt it. Although AC Milan are hardly flying either, really is the battle of the slightly failing big clubs.

Winning the Europa is increasingly looking like Arsenal's only shot at European football. Burnley are only five points behind and in better form as it stands.

Arsenal fans are pretty ambivalent about our form currently, as we’ve realised that only by losing everything badly are we going to get rid of the senile French ****t!

Great result for Brighton. That first 40 minutes we played really well. Just got to keep it going and get the points needed for safety. Pleased for Dunk too, as he’s played so well for us this season and it’s about time he scored one at the right end 😀

Dunk - fair play to him - was funny and philosophical about him upping his score for the season to -3 😂

Brighton thoroughly deserved the win. Arsenal are absolutey awful. All over the shop! I’d reserve special criticism for Ozil, who’s biggest contribution to the game was throwing his fanny  gloves away. Here’s an idea.... why not show up for a game for a change!

As a United fan I just find pretty depressing. I think the pinnacle of the Premiership era was the Class of 92 and Wengers Invincibles.

Watching City comfortably cruise past Chelski without breaking a sweat I think they’re in the same league as those two squads.

What's the betting that Ozil signed his new arsenal contract because he didn't get the offers he thought he would.

Great week for City. If it is any comfort to Arsenal at least you tried to attack for a while on Thursday and were not as spineless as Chelsea were today.

I think Conte will have lost his senior players after that performance. Hazard is a great player and has often troubled us as has Fabregas (who I wold not classify as great). They would not have been happy at be told to play that way.

Think the league is in the bag. It would be nice to wrap it up against United when they visit The Etihad in April.

Nah, He thought Europe's elite would come knocking with big offers, but they have all looked at how he drifts in and out of form and his workrate over the past few years, and decided no. So he has been left without options.

Given that Palace are one up against the mighty but now uninspiring Man U at half time, there's a distinct possibility of the default Hodgkinson tactic of protecting the slender lead. It'll be an enthralling second half with both teams camped in their own 18yard boxes. 😉

Do united realise they are in the premier league? The St Cuthberts retirement home walking football ladies B team look would be quicker and more mobile than that.

It is incredible where they are in the league with the performances they put in, I think luck is papering over the cracks.

Absolutely ****ing woeful!! Arsenal aren’t the only squad with overpaid bone idle bastards wandering about like they can’t really be bothered. I’m looking at you Pogba, Lukaku and Sanchez.

Trying to bloody walk it in and absolutely aimless balls punted forward to no-one in particular

I've struck it lucky! Bet on Palace before kick-off at 7/1, cashed out at 2-0 then immediately stuck the same on Man-U to win, literally a minute before their first goal.

Relatively small amounts, but the sense of achievement is strong!

Some strike to win it! Sanchez isn't exactly proving to be good value yet is he? One goal in eight I think and that was a rebound from his own missed penalty.

Credit to manyoo for the comeback but pretty poor for long periods of the match.

Real yardstick will be against the scouse reds on Saturday - if you are lucky you could close the gap to 13 points 😉

strange game - deserved to be behind then sort of dominated in an inevitable yet unconvincing manner - sterner opposition would have held that lead.

Some of that team play like its rugby  amble forward a bit turn round pass backward. We dont have one player who can run with the ball and its so easy to organise against us. Relentless pressure cracked a weak team but it wont be enough to do in the big teams

Still quite an unadventurous team and Jose has taken word class players pogba and sanchez and turned them into mediocre , at best, ball losers.

City and miles ahead of us - the league is not lying.

I was just saying while watching that pretty toothless display of us trying to pass it into the net, that what we're sadly lacking is someone like Schohles who'll just put their ****ing laces through it from 25-30 yards out! Then Matic goes and does precisely that! More of that please. 😀

Watching City on Sunday its not just the skills, its the fact that they all put a serious shift in! Thats the main reason they're so far clear of us. There are quite a few United players who are just jogging about aimlessly. Lakaku can't half shift for a big bloke. Not that you'd know it by how often he actually makes a run. Or any of the rest of them for that matter. Its so easy to defend against.

It doesn't bode well for the weekend. I suspect that on present form Saturdays game against the scousers will be another woeful Jose bus-parking exercise, in which case I doubt it'll even be worth watching. It's got 'last game on MOTD' written a over it!

Haha!  Surely not at home?  Would he dare?

I did actually agree with Moanys latest comments about all the failed managers criticising his tactics.....the odious Gary Nev for example, sacked after 4 months and telling everyone how it should be done! W@nker!

anyway, I created a thread recently complaining about the BBC putting women’s football and cricket on with as much gusto as the men’s games. I suggested the standard was so bad it was embarrassing.  I got some stick for it!

Well I just saw the highlights of the women’s England matches v Germany and USA. Jeez, there were three own goals and the defending was beyond belief!   I actually really enjoy a lot of women’s sport, from skiing to tennis and athletics etc but football has a massive way to go before they should put it on telly.

not sure how deserved it was and at least we got one half with the bus only half parked

Two great finishes from Rashford though Baillys was the best [ as was his spin out of defence].

Pretty much C guaranteed now but still miles from city and entertainment.

..and at the other end of the table ..great result and performance from the toon ..not out of it yet by a long chalk but other results also went our way and great to see the Pardew / Carver management team working so well ( nothing against WBA in particular ) ...maybe they might stop believing their own hype as to how good they are and finally realise as results bear out that they are utter shite .

Into the Championship and delighted to see Mitro on fire for Fulham ..seven in five now for the big chonk and another £6m added to his value by fat Mike if reports are to be believed ..straight swap for Cairney at the end of the season if you want him !

Of course I couldn't let a dip into the Championship go by without mentioning Sunderland ..keep up the good work 😁

The trouble at West Ham has been brewing for a while now: the fans are utterly fed up with the owners and a browse of some fan forums suggests that they'd be willing to accept a relegation if that's the price for getting rid of the dildo brothers.

Hi reaction was not acceptable but if people go out with the intention of filming a reaction they really shouldn't be surprised when they get one - as the person claiming to be wronged is in charge of what is recorded and released it hardly makes them reliable to document all their actions. Aside from him there are some right idiots out there who think because somebody is famous it makes them fair game.

Yeah, I think that's a point that's been lost in the frothing moral outrage at Carragher. He's a plum, no doubt about it, but he wasn't the one breaking the law and endangering his daughter just so he could troll for a reaction to sell to the papers.

Fair enough, but I was referring to the fact that the other guy was filming on a phone instead of looking at the road, which put his daughter in danger.

Have just watched Carraghers interview on Sky News, he was very apologetic and so he should be, it was bang out of order and a disgusting reaction to some harmless banter.

It also got me trying to recall the interview they must have done with Sky Sports News presenter Kirsty Gallagher after she was caught at double the drink drive limit whilst on her way to collect her kids the morning after a night on the town. I'll keep looking!!
