I had forgotten Pogba was on the pitch, the 90 million pound man has been rather anonymous.

I'm backing Bravo to make a worldy before the end and seal the points.

Who's the United centre back. I've never seen a player look more knackered!

Well I don't think we can complain about the result given how dominant city were in the first half. But what a second half! A belter of a game. After the sideways tedium of the last couple of seasons

good game and perhaps a draw was a fairer result overall but we were very very lucky to come in only one goal down in the first half and they were lucky to keep us out second half

Either way glad to see entertaining football back but City do look good when it clicks and we still seem to lack that bit of brilliance and flair

De Bruyne was impressive and should have had more

Cracking game that, a rare one worthy of the hype, a proper slugfest, trading punches in the 2nd half.

So onto the next ones, Arsenal are resting Sanchez to play perez on his own up front with Mustafi also named in the side. It all looks positive in the middle, but then you spot Walcott and Ox on the wings! 😕

Made very heavy weather of that after we looked like running away with it in the first 30.

City will improve as Bravo adapts, Aguero and Kompany return and Sane gets up speed, Gungodan plays and Jesus arrives in January. Please do not wake me up!

United look pretty poor for the amount they have spent - resorting to long balls is a pretty lame tactic. It might work on Thursday evenings though 😆

Well maybe Moany really has lost his magic touch, booted out of Chelsea, taken on in desperation by Man U and he's just lost three in a row!

Couldn't happen to a nicer fellow! 😀

Missed the first half but the second half scoreline massively flatter watford who did very little attacking wise except score twice which is all that matters obvs.

Main issue are
1. Rooney
2. No creativity anywhere - no Utd player tries to beat a player ever
3. Pogba and Fellaini is just not a pairing and both are shit. The later permanently the former is hopefully struggling to settle

Utd cannot break down teams and my tactics against them would be sit deep and counter as they pass it around a bit and eventually lose possession

I was just searching for the thread 🙂

No gloating wrt ManU fans here as I have much respect for the club but always happy to see a Jose side take a fall. 1-3 down to Watford LMAO.

JY Pogba wasn't that good for France, he is a decent player for sure but not such big money. ManU where picked off.

Expectation management Junky 🙂

90 odd thousand at Wembley was great, pity they failed to defend the break. Nothing much new there. Fortunately I couldn't go or it would have been rather tragic.

Can't believe he played Rooney in midfield after stating in the summer he wouldn't play him there. Pogba not done much so far either. Jose playing a risky game publicly criticising the players already too - usually does that after 2 years, not 2 months.

Well this isn't looking as bad. 4 up before half time. That'll do! 🙂

Mata is so much better than Rooney in that role. Always has been. I hope this'll be the end of his apparently automatic starting place

Indeed...back on track although I haven't seen a report yet, but seems pretty emphatic.

I'm currently getting my garden chores done with one eye on the clock for the 5.30 match on BT. Hoping we can put one over the Russian team I have no respect for, especially that c### up front! Come on you Gunners!

I think no hair an elbows mattered just as much tbh but Mata is superior to Rooney in that role
It was good to see but needs more goals from open play though Matas was a great team goal

It was all over by half time. Good performances all over the pitch! Bodes well.

I'll be watching the late kick off . Should be interesting. I ****ing hate Chelski!

Its also going to be interesting to see how Liverpool do against Hull. I think these games are going to be a good sign as to whether they'll be up there or not this season. See if Klopp has managed to get them out of the habit of winning against the top teams, then getting beaten at home by teams you'd expect them to be winning against comfortably. The defeat to Burnley would suggest not. So I've bunged a few quid on a Hull win 🙂

Amazing how much Chelsea still rely on John Terry, but I guess that's inevitable with Cahill and Luiz as the other centre halves! Wonder if Conte plans to play all three as that was the system he favoured at Juventus and when managing Italy.

Watched the Utd game and to be honest I don't think it was that revealing - they certainly didn't take Leicester apart and the three goals from corners was pretty out the ordinary, given how basic they were - really unlike Leicester. I think Rooney and Mata will probably interchange a bit at number 10. Reckon they may need to play Rashford or Martial a bit up top as well as Zlatan isn't going to score 50 goals a season in the Prem and physically it's a bit tougher than Ligue 1.

Great stuff from the Gunners but not 100% convinced , Chelsea played into our hands.

Just as a general point , I seem to remember a lot of Sterling 'haterz' on here . What say thee now?

Sterling is one of them players who will flourish when the rest of the team are, but will rarely carry the game and team in the bad days.
Another that comes to mind in the Prem at the moment is Pedro.

Sterling can be a genius, but its not as often as we often think it should be.

I didn't like the way he left Liverpool, but that's football of this era for you

they were murdering them and the goals were coming however they arrived. Agreed the three set pieces goals , and against leicester, is unusual but they were going to score no matter what and leicester were hanging on

Indeed. As a City supporter, still think it's a lot of dough for a bit of showboating and the occasional good game/goal. Also posted last season that Yaya was a lazy, strolling player so I think my radar isn't too faulty.

Firstly congratulations to Arsenal, although they can never undo their dire record against Jose that was a fine win. Why a team with defensive frailties would compound those by buying back Luiz I'll never understand. Pogba, after last week when all the reports saying he was anonymous a MoM performance, good for him its always tough to have the big money price tag. Strange times as Jose drops Rooney and Mata gets a lot praise. Leicester do look stretched by the CL.

Spurs ticking over, not enough at the moment

Arsenal and City look to be the main title contenders as I think we all suspected.

What the hell has happened to West Haaaaaaaaarm since last season? Southampton have just absolutely battered them!!! And they're 3rd from bottom! Same manager. Same squad. Players like Payet, who were brilliant last year, were just completely anonymous.

The curse of the new stadium? But they're equally as awful away!

It's great to see Southampton shrugging off Koeman's departure. As a Spurs fan I hope West Ham choke on the stadium.

Horrible club, awful pimp and pornographers owners, completely corrupt deal to get that stadium for basically nothing and their violent scum fans.

I think Leicester (and Stoke) are being hit by the new directive about holding at set pieces. I am all for it as the "defending" that the likes of Huth, Morgan and Shawcross have practiced over the past few years did need to be challenged.

Re. Sterling he did actually have some pretty decent games last season particularly in the Champions League. It was not really surprising given the ludicrous vitriol aimed at him by the media and sheep like fans that his form dipped.

It was great to see his confidence to score the third on Saturday. It would have been so easy to try to play in Aguero but he backed himself, remained calm and delivered a great finish.

Shaping up to be an interesting season. City's game against Spurs next week should be a cracker.

I haven't actually seen this directive in print, just heard they are cracking down on it. Frankly it had become ridiculous, just a wrestling match at every set piece and has taken them far too long to do anything about it.

I'm glad the like of Liecester and Stoke are suffering due to the new directive, Liecester were completely taking the p*ss at times last year and getting away with it.

West Ham couldn't happen to a nicer team. Although Bilic is a better coach than their current placing.

Spurs ticking along nicely, best start in 51 years. The Man City game is shaping up to be an interesting encounter and hard to call the result.

I think Bilic will be the new Martinez, flattered by his first year taking over the disciplined side of his predecessor and giving them some more freedom, but as that discipline slips into history his own coaching will be found short.

I haven't seen much Spurs football this season, but if I was a betting man, I'd suggest that they will attack City and get picked off. It will depend on a few factors, but I'd call a 1-3 result right now.

Would prefer 0-0 though! 🙂

Thats a big call MSP! I think there are a few factors at play here leading to a loss of confidence, but he will turn it round one way or another. Only to mid table though.

Watching MOTD has just summed up what is up with Engerland. Troy Deeny scored again. He's been banging them in for fun. But they ask why he doesn't get an Engerland call up?

The answer from Shearer 'well obviously Sturridge is in front of him.."

Why?!! WTF?!!! Sturridge is made of balsa wood, and is now a peripheral player at Liverpool, who doesn't warrant a start, because he's shit, and the only reason he got a game today was because Lallana went off injured. So he came on, got booked for blatantly diving, then did what....?

But he's first choice because he plays for Liverpool (ocassionally), not Watford

Klippity doesn't seem to think he warrants a place in his starting 11, and has been critical of his attitude. Doesn't look a happy bunny, does he? 😆

[img] [/img]

Yet he's still being seen as an automatic starter for Engerlands upcoming qualifiers. Its the same attitude that saw Jack Wilshere, who hadn't played 90 minutes of football all season, to the Euro's. When Danny Drinkwater, who'd started every game, and been outstanding, for the team that won the premiership, stayed at home.

Is it any wonder they're so comically awful?

Anyway... back to proper football..... today should be interesting. Which United turn up? No doubt we'll make hard work of Stoke.

And City v Spurs should be an absolute Belter. Can't see anything other than City walking it this season, but if anyones going to keep them in check then Spurs have to be in with a shout

Fair play to Spurs they outplayed City and deserved their result. The own goal was a bit unfortunate but I cannot argue that City deserved anything from the game.

De Bruyne was a big miss although hopefully when Gungodan gets up to speed we will not rely on him so heavily.

Spurs look very strong even without Kane. The pace they played at was impressive although some of their players are unnecessarily narky (especially when 2 up).

Shaping up to be a memorable season.

Burnley were absolutely bloody robbed tonight. There's no way the Arse deserved 3 points from that game. Burnley had the measure of them and the better of the chances. And the goal, with the final 'kick' of the game was a blatant handball, and offside anyway. There's no way it should have stood!

I don't think it is fair to call teams like Burnley negative, they play the only tactic available to them, defend deep as a team and hope to nick a goal from a set piece or a bit of luck. It is up to the teams at the top to break them down.

I thought city missed Nolito as much as DeBruyne, he hasn't got as much plaudits as he deserves so far. Even from the players available to him, I don't think Guardiola got his team selection right, would have preferred Gungodan and Sane to start, and the other full backs would probably brought more energy to the game.

This. Play an open game against Arsenal and they'll take you apart. So you do what Burnley did. Stop them playing their preferred game and try and hit them on the counter, and maybe nick a set piece. Its up to Arsenal to come up with an alternative. But they showed they had no Plan B. When Burnley had the ball I didn't see an Arsenal player attempt a single challenge all match. There was no pressure at all.

A pretty poor Arsenal performance, with some truly woeful passing, certainly didn't deserve the 3 points. That goal should never have stood. A clear handball AND offside.

Same for United. Stoke set up the same way, defended well, if a bit desperately at times, soaked up all the attacks, and scored with their only shot on target all match. Burnley did the same to Liverpool a few weeks back.

You know what you're going to get from these teams. Its rubbish to watch. But its effective.

Great finish from Kos and 3 points was never In doubt 🙂

Wasn't great from Arsenal but oh well , they won. Unlike Utd of course who played 'beautifully' and dropped two points . Spuds did well, good to see City drop points

Re tackles , not true really

27.7 -Tackles per game Arsenal average this season (11th in the League)
25 – Tackles Arsenal attempted against Burnley
18.7 – Tackles Arsenal win per game on average this season
18 – Tackles Arsenal won against Burnley

Tackles table :
https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/clubs/total_tackle?se=54

Of course it's all damn lies and statistics

Yeah of course, we see this every week from the lower level teams and their work rate, organisation and desire is all very admirable, but what if everyone played like that. It doesn't make much of a spectacle and you can understand how teams run out of ideas trying to get through such well organised defences.

Anyway, we got away with it and the table is looking much healthier this morning...albeit with the Spuds above us! 😳

Life is too short to watch Engerland qualifiers, so I just flicked on the 'highlights' at half time.

Sturridge's Tom Daley impressions really are cringeworthy, aren't they? He really should start coming on in his Speedo's

I'm not watching it, occasionally pop over to the Beeb sport site. It's coming across there like it's pretty dire in Slovenia and the Scottish goalie is preventing a telephone numbers score line.

How about player ratings based on their body art?
