.,.and have just broken your usual driving glasses (Oakley juliets). I need to look suave during the day, and sporty when in casual mode.
What would you recommend - on an £50 budget? 😕
Do you have a small ish head? If so, Eyewaearoutlet are doing Five Squared's for £52.
Oakley Juliet's are anything but suave.. 😉
Tifosis by default.
Well the answer is of course, sod the money and get some Ray Ban's
More importantly What's the car? and piccies? (are you talking about 159? am I getting confused by heritage?)
It's an estate, in the sunshine 8)
.....depending on how you have 'broken' your Oakley's I would send them back and get them repaired.
A mate of mine sent his back (quite a few years ago now) for a new frame after he stood on them); can't remember what they were, maybe A-wires - about £120 anyway.
He paid £17 for a new frame and when they came back a small scratch on one of the lenses had also gone, so he got sent a new pair of glasses for £17.
Or...
Bloc

etc
Uvex do some nice glasses
Depends how worried about the brand you are though, probably.
Did you used to play drums in Limp Bizkit?
And a 10 year old estate car isn't really "heritage" is it?
you'll need to buy an italian heritage car to go with what ever specs you buy....
In my french van i just wear dark safety specs 😉
I wear X-Squared in my 159ti for daily driving, Ray Ban's if I'm going somewhere posh.
Fives Squareds sound like the sort of thing you want.
Ray Bans or some brown Frogskins are what you should be getting.
aP - MemberAnd a 10 year old estate car isn't really "heritage" is it?
I assumed it was humour/sarcasm.....
Please tell me it is/was?!
For a proper Italian heritage car it has to be Wayfarers and to hell with the price.
For your car I'd recommend some Foster Grant Aviator ripoffs 😉
"the legacy of physical artifacts and intangible attributes of a group or society: man-made heritage"
Don't see the issue.
Anyway, Wayfarer's or Aviators then if life was good, Blocs if not. Sunglasshut webcam based face detector says I have a square face.
"second hand"
neither do I
Anyway for good sunnies with excellent lenses and quality frames, have a look at the Wimbledon branded ones. Made by Rodenstock and better quality than most.
Kryton, if you took your definition:
Kryton57 - Member"the legacy of physical artifacts and intangible attributes of a group or society: man-made heritage"
from Wikipedia, you missed off the word "cultural".
This looks to be the full quote:
Cultural heritage is the legacy of physical artifacts and intangible attributes of a group or society that are inherited from past generations, maintained in the present and bestowed for the benefit of future generations.
Cultural heritage includes tangible culture (such as buildings, monuments, landscapes, books, works of art, and artifacts), intangible culture (such as folklore, traditions, language, and knowledge), and natural heritage (including culturally significant landscapes, and biodiversity).
I reckon that a nice looking, but fairly ordinary Italian estate car is pushing the boundaries of that definition. 😉 😀
If it was a vintage Ducati, or perhaps a really old Bugatti, like the 1936 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic then you might have a point.
So I need Wayfarers for driving the front car* but what about the second car**?
Blonde wig and fake boobs should do it 🙂
Those fiat pandas in 4x4 are well sought after here and a 20 year old one can fetch 6k euros
You must've tried hard to break a pair of Juliets. I'll have them off you
Its a diesel Alfa FFS. Put a bag over your head, cut two holes for your eyes in it (optional) and get a bloody life!

Harsh 🙁

I'm confused. You're driving along in a car. You won't look suave or sporty, you'll just look like a bloke in a car. Or maybe a bloke in a car who's trying too hard.
Or maybe a bloke in a car who's trying too hard.
And whats wrong with that? Summer's here. Its time to make a middle age fool of myself learning at ladies. You all do it even if you won't admit it, and its always better done in shades 😀

Please see the gif above, Kryton. 😉

😆
****ing lol you wear those?
Big **** off RayBans, it's the only way.
Who n earth asks for advice on what sunglasses to choose?
Ah, someone who calls a modern Alfa "heritage" and thinks oakleys look good outwith sport.
Nothing wrong with asking about sunnies.
A lot wrong with calling an Alfa estate "Italian heritage..." though!
Raybans for driving. Glasses with a gradient tint (right terminology) are my preference (in an Australian heritage sports car)
re: Thread title - it's *you're* - you're welcome 🙂
If it ws an Italian heritage car, Persol would be de rigeur.
The mrs has a 9 year old yaris.
I'd hate her to have inappropriate sunnies on, what shades for a japanese heritage car?
Heritage my arse...
not ray bans, since sunglass hut bought the brand they fall to pieces within a few months, two pairs did for me.
What a lovely thread. I recently bought a used hermitage Italian car and am wondering what sunnies I need to wear with it. I am a plump prelate of advanced years with pretensions of grandeur. I need something that will make me look simultaneously pious and a little bit holy. If it helps, I generally wear white robes, though occasionally purple. Any advice?
Nothing wouldn't result in a ban....
Well I had to Google "Neocatechumenal Way" and it turns out to have nothing to do with heritage Italian cars or sunglasses.
I used to wear Juilettes in 1996 ...
I have two pairs - have worn them in years
BTW Rayban Wayfarer 1s
Is that ton modelling those hideous ones up there?
OP has large oval face. Heritage car has large oval face.
I thought it was going to be an Arna.
Loved those Briko sunglasses and Michele Bartoli!
Police Flash 2 or Von Zipper Skitch Aviators for me. Bit above budget, but a bigger squarer aviator for the middle aged man I think.
forget about the car, forget about brand
go to an opticians, try lots on, ask the lady who works there
go to another opticians, try theirs on as they have different product lines, they follow fashion and sometimes they may have nothing that suits you
if that is the picture of the OP - go for a medium size lens, avoid round shapes and not too deep, go for a darker frame colour but not a black lens, a grey tint lens would be better because you have fair hair and fair skin
harsh
Could be worse, he could have pointed to the fact it's underpinnings are GM, you know, the people who also make Cadillac, and errrrrrr, the Vectra.
It isn't though. Only the gearbox is GM.
Persol. Good enough for Steve McQueen back in the day. Blows the budget a bit but they're nice and not so ubiquitous as Wayfarers etc.
Worth a punt at £9.99?

If you're quick Mcmoonter might have a spare pair!

Hmmm
Tempted by these, but are they mature enough...
Persols or Wayfarers. Nothing says 'middle aged and no idea' like a pair of 1990s style 'sporty' Oakleys - unless you're actually partaking in sport at the time.
If you do get those you'll have to turn your t-shirt sleeves up a couple of times and fit a soft pack of Camels into the fold.
If you are tempted by Plaintiffs then you should just get some Aviators...
I still reckon some Brikos are just the right sort of Italian sporty class you are after - given what you've been wearing to now 😉
Persol 2747 almost the same as JB's for £81. I might just get these:
And leave he Juliets for the beach.
Hmm. Fakes.

Persol, Police, Carrera, Vuarnet.
Oakleys and raybans are for people who wear superdry, like tanning salons and who like to 'make progress' in sports utility vehicles.

Kryton57, I must humbly apologise. I've only seen two of your threads and thought you came across as a bit of a tumschie. However I've now realised that it was all done in a piss taking way to bring some of these genuine tumschies out into the open. Like the one that made the bizarre pronouncement about how Aviators make you look cool but '90s Oakleys don't.
Sorry once again, and have fun with the piss taking threads.
I have a very dry sense of humour, little of what I say in here is very serious unless it's on the Bike or Bullhearts threads.
Although I have just ordered a pair of genuine Persol 2747's tortoishell/green lense. I'll feed back after I've worn them as to whether anyone considers me trying to hard.
Needless to say I've blown the budget, but hey it's only numbers. Gulp
I forgot to post an update! The Persols arrived in 48hrs, I'm very impressed with them, here they are:

Those glasses are too small for that nose 🙂
There's a bit of tension between the eyes there too 🙁
So someone got a 3 page thread about an average pair of sunnies, calling his modern Alfa "Heritage Ialian".
And people flame my threads?

He used the wrong 'your' in the thread title too. It's been grating every time I see it.
