.,.and have just broken your usual driving glasses (Oakley juliets). I need to look suave during the day, and sporty when in casual mode.

What would you recommend - on an £50 budget? 😕

More importantly What's the car? and piccies? (are you talking about 159? am I getting confused by heritage?)

.....depending on how you have 'broken' your Oakley's I would send them back and get them repaired.

A mate of mine sent his back (quite a few years ago now) for a new frame after he stood on them); can't remember what they were, maybe A-wires - about £120 anyway.

He paid £17 for a new frame and when they came back a small scratch on one of the lenses had also gone, so he got sent a new pair of glasses for £17.

Or...

Bloc

http://www.bloceyewear.com/new-york
http://www.bloceyewear.com/delta

etc

Uvex do some nice glasses

Depends how worried about the brand you are though, probably.

Did you used to play drums in Limp Bizkit?
And a 10 year old estate car isn't really "heritage" is it?

I have a large oval face and usually suit smaller rectangular lenses with a sporty "angry" look.

Car is thus:

^^ not mine but the same.

Likeing the Bloc's... the California looks good.

Fives Squareds sound like the sort of thing you want.

Ray Bans or some brown Frogskins are what you should be getting.

For a proper Italian heritage car it has to be Wayfarers and to hell with the price.
For your car I'd recommend some Foster Grant Aviator ripoffs 😉

"the legacy of physical artifacts and intangible attributes of a group or society: man-made heritage"

Don't see the issue.

Anyway, Wayfarer's or Aviators then if life was good, Blocs if not. Sunglasshut webcam based face detector says I have a square face.

So I need Wayfarers for driving the front car* but what about the second car**?

*Fakes obviously in tribute to the cars origins

**Sun shining, finished work, feeling good so go ahead and flame me for showing off my cars 🙂

Anyway for good sunnies with excellent lenses and quality frames, have a look at the Wimbledon branded ones. Made by Rodenstock and better quality than most.

Kryton, if you took your definition:

Kryton57 - Member

"the legacy of physical artifacts and intangible attributes of a group or society: man-made heritage"

from Wikipedia, you missed off the word "cultural".

This looks to be the full quote:

Cultural heritage is the legacy of physical artifacts and intangible attributes of a group or society that are inherited from past generations, maintained in the present and bestowed for the benefit of future generations.
Cultural heritage includes tangible culture (such as buildings, monuments, landscapes, books, works of art, and artifacts), intangible culture (such as folklore, traditions, language, and knowledge), and natural heritage (including culturally significant landscapes, and biodiversity).

I reckon that a nice looking, but fairly ordinary Italian estate car is pushing the boundaries of that definition. 😉 😀

If it was a vintage Ducati, or perhaps a really old Bugatti, like the 1936 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic then you might have a point.

Get a pair of Bolle Hustler or Spider safety specs and save yourself about £40 , then wonder why you ever spent more.

I'm confused. You're driving along in a car. You won't look suave or sporty, you'll just look like a bloke in a car. Or maybe a bloke in a car who's trying too hard.

Nothing wrong with asking about sunnies.

A lot wrong with calling an Alfa estate "Italian heritage..." though!

Raybans for driving. Glasses with a gradient tint (right terminology) are my preference (in an Australian heritage sports car)

What a lovely thread. I recently bought a used hermitage Italian car and am wondering what sunnies I need to wear with it. I am a plump prelate of advanced years with pretensions of grandeur. I need something that will make me look simultaneously pious and a little bit holy. If it helps, I generally wear white robes, though occasionally purple. Any advice?

Police Flash 2 or Von Zipper Skitch Aviators for me. Bit above budget, but a bigger squarer aviator for the middle aged man I think.

forget about the car, forget about brand

go to an opticians, try lots on, ask the lady who works there

go to another opticians, try theirs on as they have different product lines, they follow fashion and sometimes they may have nothing that suits you

if that is the picture of the OP - go for a medium size lens, avoid round shapes and not too deep, go for a darker frame colour but not a black lens, a grey tint lens would be better because you have fair hair and fair skin

Persols or Wayfarers. Nothing says 'middle aged and no idea' like a pair of 1990s style 'sporty' Oakleys - unless you're actually partaking in sport at the time.

Persol, Police, Carrera, Vuarnet.
Oakleys and raybans are for people who wear superdry, like tanning salons and who like to 'make progress' in sports utility vehicles.

Kryton57, I must humbly apologise. I've only seen two of your threads and thought you came across as a bit of a tumschie. However I've now realised that it was all done in a piss taking way to bring some of these genuine tumschies out into the open. Like the one that made the bizarre pronouncement about how Aviators make you look cool but '90s Oakleys don't.

Sorry once again, and have fun with the piss taking threads.

I have a very dry sense of humour, little of what I say in here is very serious unless it's on the Bike or Bullhearts threads.

Although I have just ordered a pair of genuine Persol 2747's tortoishell/green lense. I'll feed back after I've worn them as to whether anyone considers me trying to hard.

Needless to say I've blown the budget, but hey it's only numbers. Gulp
