Got back from a run and it was waiting outside, too big for the letter box! It's a thing of beauty. The colours are superb.

So nearly £5 for the postage and then a bit extra for the packaging and labour… £7 sounds a lot but doesn’t seem excessive when you add up the actual costs.

what makes no sense to me is that's ordering directly from the publisher.  Searching on google there are already a few options with free delivery - Surely it makes sense for the publisher to take a bit of a hit on postage rather than presumably a bigger hit from people buying it from third parties?

£33 delivered from here - https://uk.bookshop.org/p/books/lost-summers-half-forgotten-afternoons-a-mint-sauce-collection-jo-burt/7756704?ean=9781739126766

Just had mine delivered.
Planned to leaf through it then gift it to a mates 12yo daughter, who is called summer.
Changed my mind, I’m keeping it.

I suspect fans aren't bothering about the cost...I'm certainly not. If it helps support get more of this kind of thing then it is all good (aware there will be profit for people, but I'm not against that). I'm hoping mine has arrived today!

It’s lovely. Just sat and read through the first 20 or so pages with a cup of tea. Looking forward to doing the same with the rest of it.
The sticker sheet reminds do me of back in the 90s when my college folders, bike etc were covered in the ones that came free with MBUK…

My copy is a gift for the house. I have to be strong so after a quick look it's all sealed up with parcel tape again. Ditto the copy of Mountain Style which as a hardback is well nice TBH.

Following on from the delivery issues I had with that book I'm expecting another few copies of "Mint Sauce" over the next few days.

I'm sure I saw an instagram post suggesting the signing was done so hopefully now out of the hands of Jo 'procrastinator' Burt and on their way.  Mid November delivery looking a touch shaky but am I surprised? Nope.

It was an actual postie, pushing a cart full of mail.

I’ve been reading through it carefully, both Jo’s main text, and especially the art, because there’s all the tiny little notes written in and around the frames, and the song lyrics along the top of each page. I’ve recognised a couple, but I can’t remember the name of the song!

I’ve got as far as ‘The death of Mint’ page, which I remember very well! I do actually have a ‘Death of Mint’ tee shirt, I’ll have to look it out and wear it again. For those not familiar with the shirt design, it’s the centre strip where Mint get hit with the crossbow quarrels; ‘thwip, thwip…’

The critical error crap is taking the piss now!

I was confused, thinking it was a photo of the front and back 😉

Just don't refresh the page if you get the error and you won't get a double post. Go to the task bar and hit enter/go instead of refreshing. Or if you do refresh, say no to the the "resend information..." thingy that pops up.

Edit: lolz, I got it when posting this. I suspect the error is to do with the redirect to the recent post after posting, because the post always works and the url shown in the bar is to the plain thread (no page or post number). That may be rubbish though, and is pretty irrelevant anyway... what was my point again?

TL;DR: If you get the error, a quick ctrl+L and hit enter will sort you quickest if on Windows, or 2 taps on your phone.

Well that just gave me a warm wash of nostalgia. I'll have to look for mine later; virtually lived in that t in the mid-90s.

Yeah, I know, I posted that literally seconds before I went out for a drink with a friend, so I hadn’t realised it had double posted.

Yeah, I’m going to buy another for the same reason - it’s something I know I’ll keep going back to. And yes, as I think JoB acknowledges, it’s rather strange that a cartoon sheep on a mountain bike can arouse such an intense emotional response, but that just shows the strength of Jo’s ability as an artist.

Mine arrived this morning and was promptly confiscated to be given back on Christmas morning. Well, I hope it  is because I didn’t have chance to open the cardboard envelope.

There could well be some raised eyebrows if it’s not.

OMG! The Fuscia Frisian! I’d forgotten that one, and now there’s an overwhelming amount of ‘I need that shirt!’, and it’s an XL, too.

Honestly, though, while I could afford it, it’s a lot of money and there’s the £20-odd postage as well.

This landed for Christmas, what a thing of beauty. I actually welled up when I unwrapped it, it generates such memories/ nostalgia for my early days of mountain biking. Truly golden times and JoB captures them so well in the images and writing - only read the first few pages and it's bang on. I look forward to settling down with this over coming weeks/months/years.

Thanks Jo.

So the 'hint' I dropped (sent her the link back in October, with the message "this would do for a late birthday or Christmas present) somehow didn't register, instead I now have a Sub to Cycling Plus (a magazine I don't think I've ever read)...

Are the Mint books still available? Is it too soon to order one on Christmas day, or should I quietly let the disappointment settle in and do it when she's not looking at the joint account between now and  NYE?

@cookeaa - not sure, I know mine was bought as soon as they were available so I could get a signed one and the stickers page. Might be worth dropping them a line, see what's left.

I can still get the basic book, that was all I wanted, it's in my basket. I think I'll just click buy now and hopefully she won't spot it.

Normally I'm the one that drops a bollock with Xmas presents, but I actually did ok this year and it's the one time I actually told her "get me this" with way more notice than she needed. Perhaps she thought I was joking, as in why would a grown man want a book of comic strips about a mountain biking sheep?

I've not brought it up (and I won't), because she's in a good mood, but this would not happen the other way round. If she is in anyway unhappy with Xmas or birthday pressies or something asked for an not received, we all find out immediately... Sigh.

Enjoy your lovely new Mint sauce books everyone else [/quietly weeps].

Oh my god is that a thing of beauty or what? Well chuffed even though I knew what I was getting. Other present was awesome as well.

I'm guessing the special added pages were Mint and Oonaghs epic ride at the start?

I didn't get mine either, sent links and everything. Didn't get the two vinyls I sent links too either.

And I got some one-size socks despite me specifically saying on-size are too big - the heels end up my ankles! I don't mind getting socks as long as they fit.
