Just stumbled across this article in the Guardian:
http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2014/may/31/great-britain-commonwealth-games-marathon-steve-way

I am astounded not only at what he's done but that I've never heard of him before.
Obviously some decent Genes in him!

Thats incredible!, he must have the perfect mix of type 1 (slow twitch) muscle fibres to develop his running so quickly, I'll make a note to keep an eye out for him.

He blogs on Runnersworld, under the username 'Marigold'.

It's worth a read as some of his training runs are incredible, including (I think) a 50 miler the week before the London marathon. Chips in on some other threads and always comes across as a really modest guy.

There's a great post marathon pick of him outside a pub with a pint and a cigar!

Matt

He's obviously a genetic freak, but well done to him on the lifestyle change.

That's a great story! Good to have something to look forward to at the Commonwealth Games
