Home cooked nibbles, Christmas ham finished off and the same with the Christmas cheese, Prosecco and up late enough to watch the London fireworks on TV. Definitely not leaving the house.

You?

Might try and get out for a run. Then a bit of telly with the missus.

I cottoned on a long time ago that NYE is overrated as a night out!

Meeting 6 of us at 6 plus kids at bro in laws house, pool, darts, decks set up, copious amounts of wife beater and even a lift home sorted at noon the next day so no worries of the finish time. Best mate who's attending is leaving at 1am as he's off to the derby match on ny day so that means it won't be a 5am finish like normal. I'm happy with that.

Local pub in Muswell Hill with the children and another family.

Pub serves Thai food so good food and a few beers...

Last year spent NYE in hospital on a daily drip visit (cellulitis) 😢

1st night of 4 at work. Hopefully on base for the bells, unlike last year returning from an RTC. Nibbles and something non alcoholic with the rest of the shift. Might even first foot the water fairies if they aren't "resting".

Ride in the morning with the dog. Dinner with wife, brother in law and his missus in the evening. Black tie do, should be fun....missus has spent this evening altering the trousers on my tux so I can get my belly in them.....Xmas has been rather indulgent this year!

Going to glasgow for the ice hockey at braehead, 2pm face off.
Then home early evening and fall asleep, to be woken by 5 hours of fireworks starting at midnight, if last year was anything to go by.

Driving to Saltburn (from Harrogate) in the day for a day on the beach with the family + dog and having fish n chips before heading back in the evening. Depending on how the bin lids are coping they may or may not stay up till midnight but as we’ve had a party with the neighbours tonight and they’ve only just gone to bed I think it’ll just be me and the wife. Or me and the PS4...

9pm table booked at the local curry house, just us two...tbh I’d rather sack it off and cook something nice at home, watch the fireworks etc then crash.

Hopefully squeeze a steady ride in early on if I can shake the man flu off overnight.

I'll be tipping drinks down my neck at a party I don't really want to be at, whilst lamenting not doing the same things I was lamenting not doing last NYE, with an undertone of knowing I'm back on Wednesday for another year at work which is almost certain to be worse than the last.

Bollocks to it.

A few friends round early doors then walk up local hill for midnight to watch the fireworks from above. Probably pop in to First Foot some friends on the way back home.

It's just another day. Why the hell it needs the shit party bollocks, non Scots going all hogmanay bollocks, and fireworks I never understood. Anyway, arguably the winter solstice (summer solstice for southern hemisphere) is more suited as it occurs for everyone at the same time the world over. It signifies a point in the Earth's cycle that could be taken as the end of a physical cycle. The end of a printed calendar is nothing other than you have to put up a new calendar.

I'll be driving to Devon the moment I get out of work. I'll sleep in the van somewhere quiet then surf in the morning. Probably have a sunrise breakfast cooked on a camping stove. Simple pleasures.

Away in motorhome with the dogs to get away from neighbors fireworks which are usually like a re-enactment of the first Gulf war.
Plenty of beer, wine & whisky with us so will be a boozy night!

Driving to Lincoln (ish) in a while to see the wifes (and mine, sorta) old mates. They were all in the same childbirth group so will be interesting as we've not seen them for ages.

I'm cooking us a nice meal, we'll have a few drinks, but probably be in bed for 10:30pm as usual.

The local pyromaniac (I'd love to find out where the prick actually lives) will be blowing up the sky from about midnight to 2am which will be a chore.

Alarm goes off at 06:45 for Work.

Fair play to those who want to party, or let of fireworks.

I want my New Year's Day to start the year how I want to spend the rest of the year. I don't want to spend 2019 exhausted and hungover. I want to spend it enjoying my riding.

New Year's Day I'm leading a club social ride, got about 10 interested, cafe stop lined up, so NYE will be at home with family and asleep by 11.

We will go for a quick pint in Town, back before 7 then make supper and bed down to watch Spectre.. then Joules.

Not intolerant to those who want to party, let them and everyone enjoy the evening I say.

Not keen on the fireworks brigade, they’re just morons who spend £300 on 30seconds of whizz-bang.. you could buy a decent night out with that kinda money.

Enjoy to those who are escaping, enjoy to those staying in.

Mostly though.. enjoy the evening to those kids less fortunate and able to both comprehend and understand what a New Year could bring/has to offer.

🎉🥳🥂🔥🍺

I have a well timed cold so am opting out of dinner with MrsP's extended family and hordes of screaming brats, and will instead be home alone with some tunes and a decent book. Hopefully there will be a miracle recovery in time for a ride tomorrow.

I do hope we can keep this thread going as "what are you doing tomorrow night" forever.

The first of January is my nieces birthday. I think she is 30. We are all going out for a pub meal. I think we are going to my sisters before that. I'm trying to get a shall group ride going as part of that but apart from her husband no one else has confirmed yet

Party - not massive - 20 odd coming round - unusual tbh as we usually book a small cottage in Wales for a quiet time. Not my idea but happy to go with the flow...

About to get ready to go out, Madame is already in the shower. It's a bit like going for a swim in cold water. Dread before hand but you know you should, mind over matter up to the waist, aghhhhh as you plunge, gasping for air due to the shock and effort, then you slowly get into it. It's even enjoyable for a few minutes, then the cold numbs the extremities and no matter how fast you swim the cold starts to win, and all you can think is "gottta get out of here, not far now, gotta get out!!!!"

Quiet night in, doesnt seem much appetite for MYE festivities around here, people much prefer partying on NYD itself. Pubs tomorrow will be rammed from 11am, there are around 15 pubs and a similar number of social clubs and every single one of them will be 5 deep at the bar for something like 5 hours. Mate owns one of the pubs and reckons he takes enough on NYD to subsidise his business for the next 3 months - he normally has 1 member of staff on, tomorrow he has 9 !

Pleasant evening, the water was warmer than expected. I'm not sure how we all chatted for six hours without finding anything contentious but that's what happened.
