I've spent 20+ years 'hating' Marmite, I think due to an incident I remember where my Grandma gave it to me on a cheese sandwich as a kid; my tastebuds were obviously expecting Vegemite and were extremely offended by the taste difference! So I've never had it since, it's been one of those things that I've always said (when asked) "Marmite? Bloody horrible stuff! Vegemite FTW!"

Just had two luverly pieces of hot buttered toast with my cup of Yorkshire Tea... one with Vegemite and the other with Marmite (just 'coz it was in the cupboard at work and for whatever reason I decided to give it a shot... have no idea why today was the day!) and you know what? I thought the Marmite tasted better... dear god... what has happened to me?? 😥

No, you are just someone who has no sense of taste.

I reckon it may well have a correlation with my developing taste for ales & bitters... I bet if I tried some stupidly strong smelly blue cheese I'd like that now as well!

You're right, your taste changes with age. As I got older I found I started to enjoy curries, black olives, and Guiness,
all things I wouldn't touch when I was younger. Oh, and strong cheese as well.

As you grow up you start to appreciate the taste of things more. So anyone who says marmite or bitter is foul needs to grow up! lol

That's completely the wrong way round! You must have extremely sensitive taste buds, the 3m's are delicious, bitter = dishwater.

Maybe it's the years of very hot curries that I denied did any harm 😳

I like marzipan but not marmite or mince pies.

Worst food ever = coleslaw.

You're not truly British until you think that the UK would be much better off without the other kingdoms 🙂

The conundrum of marmite and Britishness is that you need on opinion on it. Therefore you were British before loving marmite, because you hated it.
