Happy enough with my MSR PocketRocket. You could go for 2 for 4 people spose?

Are you looking for a backpacking stove, or a big stand-mount thing?

Have a look at Go System. Fraction of the price of the bigger brands and throws a ton of heat out. I got one about six years ago off eBay and bought the same again when I needed a second one.

Trangia would work for four people.

Tough, reliable and not too heavy if cooking for four.

The deciding factor for me is what sort of cooking are you talking about. I've not cooked a meal camping in the hills for years. I just boil water, pour into bag, wait, eat. I use a Caldera Cone Stove and love it. But it'd be rubbish for four.

If its actual cooking (which I do when camping with the car nearby), and four people, I'd take a trangia. Just boiling water, go Gas and lightweight.
