It's easy to think that a bit of gentle ribbing, going OT and just generally funny posts are confined to the Chat forum but you'd be wrong.

I just stumbled upon this gem and it did give me a chuckle. It's very Alpha Male but not in the horrible Tate way.

Alpha Male, possibly, but in very STW fashion and I thought it was great. @footflaps second post, particularly, made me have a little titter to myself.

(Oh, and this is not a dig at any of the posters in the thread, I understand only about 50% of what's being discussed. It actually sums up much of what I love about STW!😁)

Thread of the week right there.

First rule when you're [s]tip of the spear[/s] Thread of the Week nominee is not to talk about it

I see what's happened here. The OP of that thread posted to the wrong forum.

Are CamelBak still owned by a company that sponsors the NRA? I used to buy CamelBaks, stopped buying their products when they sold out.

There's a bike forum?

Seriously though, I thought most folk would view both forums together? There's so much randomness in both parts that the overlap is significant.

They split the company up to avoid that little nugget.

So they have Vista Outdoor - which is all the sporting stuff and a new company called outdoor products that supports 2A gun nuts and shooting stuff for no reason. Now seperate businesses.

My wife has the exact same one I think from the same ebay shop.
It's got a unicorn keyring on it.

I've been on this forum many years but this post from footflaps was the first to ever make me laugh out loud...

I’ll have to drop that into every day conversation…

“I didn’t look at the price of peanut butter in Waitrose before buying it. At the tip of the spear all you care about is operating.”

Was it that gentle? There was a suggestion that one poster was a mentally-ill fantasist, followed by a bit of a pile-on 😬

Ah, so CamelBak are still owned by people who fund the NRA but are trying to pretend they aren't? I think I'll take my money elsewhere.

Nah, he's seen action in 'Nam.

Cheltenham. They'd run out of donuts in Lidl.

followed by a bit of a pile-on 😬

Shag pile on.

Yep, I really do! I like the separation. Chat for the more serious/ contentious stuff and Bike for the escapism. That's what bikes mean to me, escapism.

I just can't muddy the water.😁

Well we now have a thread about the thread. Will there be a podcast about the thread, or do we go straight to a podcast about the thread about the thread?

I've wondered about it frequently.

At the tip of the spear, it's best to go for the 'Overview' option

@Poopscoop, I very rarely look at any part of the forum other than the Bike part as most of this side is stuff I don’t care about.

^^ fair enough mate.

I used to spend more time on the Bike forum but, well, for various reasons I'm more into general chat at the moment.

Hopefully bike stuff, in general, is back on the menu again for me soon.

I view the forums separately and it annoys me that they've switched the buttons around (I might have imagined this).

For some reason I always think bikes are on the left so I press the wrong button and end up looking at threads about investing and pensions and company cars.

^^ I have to comment here and just say, phew, I'm glad I'm not the only one that doesn't like crossing the streams.lol

Not sure about button change but it does vaguely ignite some memory of a swaparound?
