Bindun. The general consensus was yes, with a few outlyers. Apparently there's been a few broken bones, which bothers me not one jot.

Apparently, motor vehicles are only weapons when used against cyclists and no one minds the Police dispensing immediate justice.

You've got to be shitting me. You take a question about a very real issue in controlling the acid-throwing and crime-committing mopeds around London and drag up the Ian Tomlinson case?

Edited to add I know Mick is being naughty, you cheeky scamp 🙂

Zero tolerance, fight fire with fire. It’s the only way the under funded police can even begin to get crime under control

It will have to do suppose until capital punishment is reinstated, but that's a whole other topic altogether.

I'd employ a lack of braking after impact as well just to mash em up a bit.

Armed officers on the streets? Do keep up at the back, there have been armed police patrols around for years, although they’re not your average beat Bobbie or patrol car, and you don’t see them around so often now. They used to be seen regularly around a pub I used to drink at, to the surprise of visitors, and I used to see them patrolling in West Lavington when I used to drive down to Salisbury to visit a friend. This was twenty years ago, mind, and they were protection officers for Norn Iron ministers like Tom King, who lived just over the road from the pub I drank at.

I think we can all agree the only logical next step is to change the rules of engagement for the armed officers to anyone looking a bit dodgy, just shoot them before any tricky trials come along.

The usual handwringers wring their hands, as usual. But normal people think its a very good thing indeed. The broken bones ive just read about is the icing on the cake.

Usual handwringers vs normal people

Phew, glad it's all so binary and simple.

Yep it's always worth remembering that "I" am in the normal people group and people I disagree with are in the other one...

The only problem I have with this is they don't seem to be reversing back over them.

So you think the coppers who go home at night after killing somebody would feel good about it?

A crim off the streets.  I would hope they are doing the hoki coki with their colleges.

#trolltastic

my Mum (in the Police in the 1950's) said that we get the police force that reflects society and that we deserve, looks like that's going to happen if it's up to the wantwits here

They might feel a bit sad, but then cheer back up again once they think of the people they have saved from getting a facefull of acid or a knife through their chest.

Which is a big difference, using tactical measures to stop somebody is one thing, you are advocating issuing punishment beatings when they have stopped and caught them.

The pinko lefty trendy social aware brigade of bleeding heart handwringers will hold their heads up in horror. The rest of the population will cheer.

Yes, great idea. In any other country this wouldn't even be an issue.

Ah so issuing physical harm to a suspect when you have apprehended them...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birmingham_Six

Might help with the confessions there though.

" I would hope they are doing the hoki coki with their colleges. "

You'd be very disappointed.

I have colleagues who have been involved in fatal pursuits and have seen the toll that it takes on them. Friends have left the service or asked to be removed from specialist units following incidents like this. On more than one occasion I have had suspects commit suicide while on bail for offences. Should I be doing the hokey cokey? What if it was for sex offences against a child? Should that make me happy at a job well done? I can tell you that it REALLY doesnt. To make light of this in the way you do shows you as a bit of a tosser. In my opinion.

I didn't realise Jean Charles de Menezes and the Birmingham Six were involved in violent moped crime and riding through the streets away from the police endangering everyone.

I'll give you this though, you have changed my mind. I no longer think the police should reverse over them, I think instead they should take them into custody where you are in the holding cell awaiting them. You can then tell the poor little violent thieving torags that it's not their fault, it's all the white man's fault and they are the victim of the patriarchy consipring against them. You can let them know you are 'totally woke AF brah' and you understand their plight, maybe they just need to ... oh damn it, you've just been shanked. 'Yo fam, I forgive you for shanking me, I know it's not your fault..' damn it shanked again.

The threat of a repeat visit and having to listen to your shite again will have them wishing the cops just reversed over them in the first place.

How about once we catch them we just prosecute them? Or in your fantasy world do you think we let the guilty go?

Do we take such a beat them first attitude tow white collar crime too? What about fraud?

The threat of a repeat visit and having to listen to your shite anymore will have them wishing the cops just reversed over them in the first place.

Is that when they are imprisoned after being tried for their crimes?

Mike why don't you open a community center and rehabilitate them with your utopia ways. Don't wear a watch or phone on you though cause you will get shanked.

So basically once the police have stopped and arrested somebody you want to get in there and beat them up?

How does innocent until proven guilty work in these cases? Where should it not apply? Which crimes are we allowed to punish before conviction? What level of evidence is required to enact physical violence?

Better question why are we not working on the causes of crime?
