Oh wow. What an incredible series!

Only watched the first three episodes of series 1 so far but not laughed so much in ages!

I know it's got a darker side, particularly as I stumbled on a spoiler by mistake (idiot) but if you haven't watched it, please do.

You owe it to yourself!😁

**No spoilers in this thread please, for those that haven't seen this work of comedy genius yet!**

I spent most of it laughing my balls off - partly because one of my friends pointed out that she looks and acts like a good friend of mine - and now I can’t unsee it.

We saw it at the theatre. The play is actuall quite miserable.

Loved it on telly though.

Got a bit bored of it by the end, but did binge watch it so that might be why

If you missed it as well you should also watch Catastrophe.

It is very funny, but, It's also about the "terrible" lives of frightfully posh v rich people, and that does start to grate after a while.

but yes, funny.

Loved it and got me through a series of long flights...

On Saturday though my 83 yo Mum, having read about the awards in the paper asked me if I had seen it as she was thinking about watching it... I said "not sure it's your thing mum".

🙂

Are you one of these people that only gets into to music after the artist snuffs it? 😉

Clearly not. The OP has an extensive collection of Joe Cocker records.

Watched it, and it was a very well executed, well written series full of pathos and intimacy well delivered. And I liked that it was unashamedly posh - we're always seeing gritty poor realism, but it was good to posh people with all their posh flaws and **** ups.

It didn't really show me anything really new and novel though, so only an A- from me.

I agree with everything you have written here, molgrips, but wasn't so sure about your final line. Her delivery, and the motifs she deploys, such as breaking through the fourth wall, are so much her and so appropriate to the material, I give it an A*.

Yes, the production was brilliant and novel but the subject matter wasn't new - because it never is when it's just about people and relationships. I mean I thoroughly enjoyed it, but my preference is to really be challenged with new subject matter. That's why I like good scifi or other strange stuff. Purely my own preference though.

Worth watching for the brother-in-law character alone.

Pure brilliance. The theme tune by Phoebe's sister is also excellent.

Just finished the second season.

I'm not one for watching tv series over again but I will this one.

To call it just a "comedy" does it a real disservice.

This series is going to stay around in my head for quite some time.

Wonderful.
