Due to some posts on here I read a while back I decided to be safe rather than sorry.
All seems ok according to doc and it was only about 5 seconds of very slight discomfort.
I asked to bypass the blood test and go straight to some bum action as I seem to remember the blood test isn't conclusive.

I had a little scare a few months ago. I had the finger, blood test and MRI. Got the all clear last Tuesday. Relived is a understatement😊
Just a couple of fingers? I had an exam years back and doc got out a foot long rectoscope 😱. Wasn’t so bad till he then gets some students in to all start staring up my cavity.
But yes, get checked out people.

@drj I assume you are not a real doctor (Google assessments do not count!).
My wife is a urology nurse specialist trained in DRE's and it can be a very good indicator of prostate issues.
I only got one, but I was only 40, it was surprisingly good though so looking forward to two, though she's moved to another practice so it won't be the same
@eskay my comment is based on personal experience of a GP declaring me "all clear" on multiple occasions but a urologist detected something straight away. So a DRE maybe can be useful but perhaps not if done by someone who isn't experienced in the procedure.

Eskay unless the OP saw a urology specialist the DRE was unlikely to be conclusive. As a service user my GP did none of my testing other than the initial PSA test. After that it was hospital urology all the way. Now the MRI scanning for prostate cancer is up and running it should be a nicer experience all round as there's no need for a couple of biopsies to confirm the presence of a tumour.
When I had my prostate check the doctor said to me that it wasn't unusual for some men to get an erection during the exam. I assured him I wouldn't. He said that he didn't mean me. 🙂
A 'digital' examination is better than the PSA test. Had mine done by a Urologist Consultant a few years back - I'm on meds that can cause some issues (can set off cancer), so you've got to be checked before they put you on them.

4 days later I ended up in hospital on morphine for three days with an episode of diverticulitis- not present at all .

I had that last week, then he asked if the student doctor could have a go? Also had a look round the inside of my bladder on tv which was very interesting. Slightly uncomfortable having a camera up your knob but these things have to be done.

Finger test will tell you nothing; PSA, shit in a pot test, colonoscopy, endoscopy - any or all, take your pick.
When the specialist talks about being topped'n'tailed - camera down throat, (different) camera into the fundament.
Colonoscopy - mildly uncomfortable but no big deal; endoscopy - trucking hell my gag reflex was too strong so that was under anaesthetic.
I believe some people believe that two fingers aren't enough but I don't think they're doctors.......
