So. As an off-shoot of the 'content' thread on irritating thread title tics, I'd like to discuss the beginning of thread titles with the word 'so'.
Again - why do people feel the need to incorporate verbal tics into written form?
Again - some thread titles that could occur:
Mediocre garden implement - So, so-so hoe.
Mediocre needlework - So, so-so sewing.
Hippy day out on a ferry - So, bo-ho ro-ro beano.
So, my SO is so so-so at sewing
So what.
it's creeping in everywhere in daily life too... i blame the commons select committee enquiries, people who answer questions there all seem to start their answers with "so..."
X-ray Specs covers band in poor rendition:
So, so-so the day the world turned day-glo oh oh oh ya know ya know.
Email me for pics.
It started in America.
It started in America.
Native America?
So - Arapahoe no?
Because only politicians are allowed to use "look".
Because only politicians are allowed to use "look".
I thought that was Martin Keown?
Jesus Danny, you must be SO bored 😉
Because when posting a thread, it's usually as a result of a thought process that began sometime before. So the thread is a natural follow on from that train of thought, or corollary of it, and so starts with a 'so'.
Just because we can't see the thought process that led to it, doesn't been it's wrong. Grammatically sub-optimal, perhaps.
Nicko74.
I don't necessarily think it is wrong, it just gets on my tits.
Cheers Rascal - you are immune from any acid reply I might make to anyone else because you lent me a whole bike and walked my broken one back to the car not so long ago. Nice post.
You've got tits?
I hate cliche.
