Quick muddy ride this morning ( ) followed by a meal with Mrs Bowie278's family, followed by the football and then a visit from my 7 month old nephew who enjoys a good gurgle. Lovely day.

Anyone else..?

Finished nightshift, came home. Went to bed for a few hours, wife and her mum, aunts and sisters went for high tea after opening cards and presents.
Did the chores, washed the dishes, cooked the dinner, wife sleeping beside me on the couch now.
Not the best due to work interfering a bit but know I'm lucky to have what I have so its not so bad.

Never bother with it and years ago told my kids never to bother either!

Don't bother with my own mother either particularly as her behaviour is currently, er, 'challenging' and doing my head in. 😐

Not really

Rang her twice Thursday to try and arrange something for today. She wasn't in, so was expecting a call back. Non came. Rang twice Saturday to arrange same thing. No call back. Rang this morning to try and salvage something (ie, try and meet in York for some drinks) again, no answer. Called tonight expecting the worse (my mum is mental and gets in a mood really easy). She answered the phone, got in a strop and accused me of not wanting to bother with mothers day etc. Told her I have called 5 times trying to arrange something. She then went off on one saying I didn't want to see them at Christmas. My excuse was my partner was working christmas day, so I was on call to take and collect her from work. I said something perhaps a tad harsh, then hung up.

She basically cut her nose off to spite her face, and I think she was ignoring my calls to use something against me. Grrrrrrrrr

err no, got up for early morning ride - weather rubbish
bike I planned to ride had 2 flat tires despite checking yesterday. Dragged out F/S to ride instead, new chain jumped on old(yet to be replaced) cassette.
road crash on way to forest.
rode around like a dork for an hour before heading home injured
afternoon spent painting anti corrosion paint on underside of van.

On he plus side Mrs XCwanabe made a cracking Spelt Loaf, mini Victoria Sandwiches and stew and dumplings.

Yep,

organised a surprise visit from overseas, came back yesterday with flowers and was rewarded with freshly baked cakes. Took my mum, dad, brother and sil for a very nice meal inc. delicious puddings today, and earned several brownie points.

Now relaxing with a drop of red and some home made quiche.

what was funnier was 3 sets of parents the other side of the camera acting like maniacs trying to get them to sit still, smile and stop drooling on themselves and/ or each other

Absolutely crap. Gti Junior forgot Mother's Day and of course that was MY fault so Mrs Gti had a massive bag on all day and still has this morning. GtiJ naffed off to a mate's house and I naffed off on my bike and left her to stew in her own juice.

Trip to Kew for the orchids with Mrs TiRed, home to watch the rugby and cooked dinner for her. Called my own mother, and sent flowers. Mother's day has always been a big thing in my family.

Great day. Didn't get to see my mum (100 miles away and we usually go there), but me and the boys (2 and 3) made a fuss of the missus:

- Long lie in
- Tea in bed opening cards/presents
- Long bath while we went to do the weekly shop
- Lunch made
- Bike ride to the park while she stayed in the warm and read a book
- Roast Lamb for dinner, boys 'helped' me cook while she carried on reading.

Was a bit weird really as it sometimes felt like we were avoiding her, but she loved the peace and quiet!

Double win for me - wife's birthday and mother's day in one.

Took kids shopping on sat for presents which gave her time to browse shops alone which apparently is fun. Cooked tea Saturday night with the kids. Sun am got up and helped eldest make tea and breakfast in bed so wife could have lie in before presents. Took kids swimming so wife could have lie in / long bath.

Then both of our mothers came over, and took them all out for lunch. Here's where it could have gone wrong; all our usual eat out haunts were booked up so I booked for a little family run Italian that I've eaten at before but she hasn't. From the start her and her mum were all sniffy about it (don't want to go somewhere we don't know, room's too cold, too many tables for the space, etc......). However, food was excellent as I knew it would be, service impeccable, and they treated the kids brilliantly - no kids menu but they said they'd do a small portion of just about anything on the menu instead - and then served up scaled down versions of a fantastic papardelle with meatballs for £3.50 and a spaghetti with seafood - the whole lot, mussels, prawns, calamari and lumps of fish - for a fiver. Not sure what tasted better, the food or the humble pie they had to eat when agreeing it was just about the best Italian they'd had in years, and worked out cheaper than the chain places as well!
