Purchased something on ebay earlier i havent paid yet, I have since found it online £15 cheaper with £30 worth of vouchers against future purchases. I need to double check theyre actually in stock. But if they are i will probably contact buyer and ask to cancel. If he doesnt agree and I receive a non paying bidder strike what does this actually mean? I feel bad about asking him but £45 saving is just too much right now.

if you have a few strikes then some sellers will have set their preferences so that buyers with strikes can't bid, having just one strike won't effect you though and the strikes wear off in a few months.

If it was a trader and a buy-it-now it won't upset them much - if it was an auction then you are dicking them about quite a bit. If it was an auction for something that might make a christmas gift then you are dicking them about quite a lot

ebay should charge non-paying bidders the sale fees IMO

SP...buyer can get them back easily.

OP, how much was it? BIN and trade seller...not as bad to cancel, but private a bit worse. Up to you.

Not sure if trade or not, possibly a wanna-b trader. BIN it was. I dont think he will have a resale problem, as it was a bargain. (not saying what as OH may be lurking 😉

You'll get a sense of whether they are a trader or private from their 'other items' If it was a BIN and something you'd buy as a gift then don't hang about - quicker you sort things out with them the quicker they can re-market it before xmas.

Al

Yeh, but it would discourage non-payment and timewasting

Contact the seller and you can both agree to cancel the sale, he gets his fees back and you don't get the black mark.

Had it done to me, no hassles.

Although don't be too surprised if he says no.

To be fair, You clicked "buy it now" , not "start negotiations"

Bang out of order to cancel IMHO. It’s your fault for not doing proper research before buying off eBay. Regardless if the seller is a private individual or a business you agreed to purchase the item when you pressed that BIN button.

Put it to experience, pay for the item and do proper research next time.

Proper research had been done the website dropped £79 off their price that very hour I BIN'd on ebay.

Hopefully its all sorted with the seller anyway.

Why did you carry on looking for the item after you had bought one?

I wanted a rear view of the item regarding some customising, first link brought it up at new price.

Does the seller accept refunds..? You could buy it and return it, swallowing the return postage - assuming they don't charge a restocking fee as some do?

Don't DSR give you the right to return pretty much anything within 14 days for any reason without any restocking fee nonsense?
