Coronation date is set for Saturday. And the big question is that an extra bank holiday not? I'm guessing not, move the current one from the 1st to the 5th of May.

Either day, Friday or Monday will mess with the exam diet. Music Friday or design tech and German on Monday.

After working the last one while the rest of the country got to r̶i̶d̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶i̶r̶ ̶b̶i̶k̶e̶s̶ grieve at home, I hope not. Bank holidays (except maybe Christmas) should be scrapped and the days added to annual leave.

My wife got a day added to her annual leave allowance for the funeral. I'm guessing the same again.

I hope so as I’ll get an extra holiday added to my annual leave.

Folk will be pissed off if they move the May 1st one. There will be loads of people who’ve already booked long weekends.

I’m guessing no extra holiday.

Thank goodness they've managed to fit it in around Eurovision.

Sounds like it'll likely clash with the Steel City Downhill, so I'll have to miss it. But if it is a Saturday, it'll unlikely be an extra bank holiday, surely?

I’m sure there will be a bank holiday on the Monday, how on earth can true patriots celebrate appropriately with fighting and alcohol poisoning if they don’t have an extra day to recover?

Plus the news said the politicians favour an extra bank hol according to the news… I guess it might distract from the piss poor performance of the govt for a morning

I don’t care, I’ll be in Fort William for the SSDT.
As long as it doesn’t affect the last day!
& I only work 2 days a week on an annualised hours contract so bank holidays don’t come into my equations anyway.
Meh.

Well, June 3rd is my birthday and the previously suggested date, so I'm disappointed that I won't be getting a(nother) long weekend off for nowt.

This. My wife works in hospitality so very rarely gets BHs off. It’s her birthday that week and we’ve both booked the week off. As she gets 36 days per year as opposed to my 25 plus banks we have to be very careful how we plan to maximise our time together and losing that early May BH would mean me working over Xmas. First world problems, I know, but still a problem for me.

Same day as the FA cup final isn’t it ?
Wonder what the thinking behind that is ?

I might cycle down to London again, gawp at the crowds, and then find a nice cafe, and then cycle back again.

Worked well for the Jubilee, busted achilles for funeral (a true Royalist believer would have done it anyway).

Its probably not that big a concern - for all the noise football generates in the press, even when theres non being played, you'd think football was more popular. But the audience for the FA Cup Final these days is about 6 million compared to a royal wedding or funeral at 26-30 million

It would be a bigger deal in viewing terms if the coronation  clashed with an episode of Call the Midwife

EDIT The FA cup audience is pretty much the same size as for an episode of Coronation Street (but only because soap viewing numbers have taken a bit of a tumble)

Would it be an issue for the police if they have to manage the FA Cup and a coronation?

FA cup final is June 3rd. Was the original favourite date for the Coronation but they've then chosen May 6th.

Waiting to hear one of my republican friends complaining if we don't get a bank holiday.

Clashes with FLABs Big Fat Bike Ride out of Ilkley, I know which I'm choosing.

Bank holidays (except maybe Christmas) should be scrapped and the days added to annual leave.

Pretty standard in Scotland, at least at the companies/organisations I've worked.

Current employer the only 'fixed' days are 25th/26th December & 1st/2nd January (or equivalent week days).

My prediction was 100% wrong.
It will be another day's lost income for (most) self employed contractors.
