Enjoy?
I think you may have missed the point.
<rolling eyes> I've upset the STW police. Just delete the thread then
Thanks fingerbang 👍
Brilliant - i shall be watching this!!!!
Thanks. Also a recent article on point - https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/oct/16/johnny-marr-guitars-smiths-noel-gallagher-still-ill-difference
Sorry @fingerbang it was supposed to be a joke about smiths fans ( I am one)
Really good. Very interesting and amazing how a single chord can be, The Smiths .
Thanks fingerbang 😊👊
Yep, enjoyed that. The book Marrs Guitars looks very nicely made too.
I just love the look on that pedal show guys faces when he plays those few chords. Proper "I can't believe I'm here" vibe
That's brilliant. Nailed it at 11.44, incidentally!
Not much chat about pedals, until the very end but for guitar heads his explanation about the switch to Jaguars is fascinating
Plus love the 'You've seen enough of that one' spinal tap moment
I realise the thread should be 'johnny Marr fans...enjoy' as he was in the smiths for only tiny bit of his career but I'm sorry I think it was his best work
The 'how soon is now' being the sound of an epiphone casino, with a bit of tremolo and chorus or something, is blowing my mind
Had me as soon as the some girls riff started! 👍🏻
To be honest I didn't really know he was in so many other bands like the Pretenders and The The.
You can really recognise his sound when you think of the music now.
I hadn’t realised that he went to school with another guitar legend, Billy Duffy out of the Cult and they’re still best mates to this day
The Noel Gallagher one is also worth 2 hours of your time. Has a lot of Johnny Marr guitars
Cheers, that was wonderful & the reactions of the guy sat next to Johnny was a joy to watch. How a signature Smiths sound just poured out of each guitar was amazing.
Thanks for this. As a massive Smiths fan without any/much musical education, this is fascinating.
@nickc - made me laugh

For me it was easily his best work. Maybe because I was between 13-17 and was obsessed with The Smiths. The music was brilliant and the lyrics were great. I always felt people so easily dismissed them as some miserable band which was not only missing the point of the lyrics but missing out on some very well written and performed songs.
He could also show Morrissey how to age and remain cool rather than turn into a complete ****.
At the risk of upsetting @fingerbang once again, I do find I need to FF through these sorts of things. I'm happy to hear Johnny Marr play, and I agree with @budgierider67, you can really hear that Smiths sound pour out of each and every guitar. But the format of having the two fawning hosts/idiots "Oh do tell us how wonderfully magnificent you are, how do you live amongst us mortals" is just so cringy I can't watch it though.

They are like that with anyone they have on their show
@nickc. Sorry my friend I forgive you. Im increasingly cynical and jaded by this forum so am in defensive mode all the time
If you're the legendary Nick Craig then like the kiwi pedal show host - I am not worthy
As an aside Marr was on the rockonteurs podcast recently and discussed the guitar book. He retold the Noel Gallagher story about the 1960 Les Paul and it turns out it was from John Entwistle (and not Townshend as is widely misunderstood)
Wonderful. Just watched it all. Cheers OP
two gimps
Really? I don't watch these things normally, but they just seem like total enthusiasts, meeting a (really nice) guy that they've appreciated for a long while.
I was a late-comer to The Smiths, which is why I didn’t bother going to see them play a warmup gig at Golddiggers in Chippenham…
But then, I didn’t bother going to see King Crimson when they played the same venue, because I’d heard they weren’t playing the old stuff, and I didn’t bother going to see Roxy Music at the Neeld Hall in town, because my then girlfriend wasn’t interested.
*sigh*
I’ll watch that later, I’ve got a lot of respect for Marr as a musician, so that’ll be interesting.

Yeah, this.
Their enthusiasm I think makes guests do more and go deeper into the details they may otherwise not think to share.
Genuine fans, genuine guitar geeks.
Would have been very different with two whispering Bob Harris-types.
Jonny Marr is being interviewed on Five Live at the moment by Nihal about Marrs Guitars, amongst other things
Well worth a listen, as so far he's just confirmed his status as god-like deity
A glass of red and a watch of this tonight, many thanks
