Need a new phone. Know virtually nothing about smartphones but want something robust with a very good camera. Not bothered about memory or music playing. Also, would like to buy ethically if that is even possible.
Any recommendations?
Thanks
Rich
sony xperia z5 has the best camera at the moment (23MP)
followed by Samsung Galaxy S6 (16MP)
iPhone 6 only has a 12MP camera which means even the Galaxy S5 and S4 have better cameras
Don't just go on resolution, my iPhone 6 takes much better pics than the wife's xperia.

Depends what type of Xperia.
My Z3 Compact has (edit) a 20.7MP sensor, but the "Auto" photos are processed down to about 8-10MP, but the image quality is outstanding.
z5 hasn't been reviewed as the best, of the Android ones the Galaxy S6 won a best camera test.
define "Ethical"
😕
This is a mass produced consumer white goods, you want ethical trot off to your local CEX and buy 2nd hand.
Indeed, pixel count is only part of the story.

According to the above link it's a toss up between th LG G4 and Galaxy S6.
My Xperia z3 compact takes superb pictures
Can't comment for 'best camera' but have a look at Fairphone 2 for ethical/sustanable production. It is user-accessible and the camera itself is replaceable. Early days but seems v sensible - imagine having a smartphone with upgradeable components? I buy used yet would certainly support the Fairphone if was in the market for a new one. I only use phone cam for snaps/reference/playing about with. Isnt that what they're for?
Dunno how robust it is, but the Panasonic CM1 would probably take some beating on the camera front.
I think it's more 'camera with phone attached' rather than 'phone with camera attached'
Based on my Z1 compact I would give Sony a look, combined with the waterproofing it was a bit of a no brainer for me. Probably more 'ethical' than Apple anyway, but no doubt still responsible for terrible pollution and orangutan deaths.
Thanks for the replies - off to go and look at the suggestions. Particularly taken with the fair phone idea.
